Anything arch, basically. Maybe I'm just a too lower tier power user, but I have always returned to Mint. Rock solid daily driver working out of the box. I don't really want to have to tinker with the os, I admit. It should just work.
The world of music production is dominated by Apple with Windows running a distant second. Thanks to DAWs like Reaper and open source plung-ins constantly being developed, music production on Linux doesn’t seem like such a crazy idea anymore.
I personally like the fact that u-he, acmt and audio damage provide their plugins on linux. I know, not FOSS, but game changing when it comes to switching music production over to linux. Vital is also available on linux, as is bitwig as host.
Whenever I see this I have to chuckle. Humans do this all the time, whip stuff up as they go, lie, pretend. The AI can only do what it has learned from us people. So it lies, makes stuff up and pretends. Why is this so surprising?
I ask because I've been doing a lot of research the last few weeks and Google search has really let me down. I've been finding better results on DuckDuckGo and Bing. Is this a recent thing with Google or am I out of the loop? Any other search recommendations?...
mint user here. rocksolid distro, maybe not bleeding edge but very good as a daily driver; also for music production. reasonably customizable desktop with cinnamon.
only caveat: some vst plugins do not work well with wine when it comes to their copy protection (#izotope and #ssl among them), others do (such as #kilohearts)
Most people aren't even thinking of moving to reddit alternatives. Users have a lot of power in this situation. Just move your community to Lemmy or Kbin. It's not that hard.
Looking at a company's career page can really reveal its long-term strategy. In this case, Reddit wants to leverage the extraction of wealth generated by its users. This career page caught my eye:...
When I visit kbin.social, I see new posts regularly. On other servers posts stay on the frontpage for multiple days. This is also true if I switch their sorting to "hot". So that is probably not the difference....
I really don't understand the hate this show got. I really enjoyed it! A unique concept, story driven - season long plot arcs, great acting, incredible visuals, and fantastic characters. Sure there was some goofy stuff in there too, but star trek always has goofy shit....
Discovery as an idea of a show would work way better in a starwars universe rather than star trek. Star trek shows usually at least pretend to care about science. Discovery threw that out the window right from the start, and excelled at keeping anything scientific miles away. Not trying to diss the show, but wrong universe imho.
I recently played an amazing DOS game where you have your country and you can declare war or peace with other ones, and i really enjoyed it. Growing up one of my favorite DOS games was Gobliiins 3, such cool memories!
not really into high end smartphones as i don't have a usecase for those. don't need an above average camera, if any at all. currently i am using a motorola edge 20 as my daily workhorse and overall i am not unhappy with it. Just sometimes it seriously hangs and occasionally reboots. also probably sooner or later updates will...
I'd also tend towards a Pixel, 7a probably, like @neoNgEcho mentioned. Are there any blatant cons to such a decision? What about realworld battery life?
Thanks for the info! Headphone jack is not a huge loss for me as I use bluetooth headphones already. Fingerprint is kind of bummer to hear, I wanted to switch partially because the fingerprint on the edge 20 sometimes randomly just goes unresponsive to any kind of touch. Meh :-/
What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?
I’ve been using Linux Mint since forever. I’ve never felt a reason to change. But I’m interested in what persuaded others to move.

I don't understand why people still want to use reddit instead of moving to Lemmy or Kbin
