It’s easy to get up in arms about blockchain and A.I. But what about when certain market makers engage in simple price-fixing of physical goods? Or what about when big corporations buy up a resource to create artificial scarcity, thus boosting demand?

De Beers has been in that racket for 136 years. Diamonds aren’t rare. De Beers is just a shady company.

And what I’m trying to say to all you folks is that, if you let it happen, price fixing and artificial scarcity will be coming for physical media too. In fact, they already have.

You should be worried.

One of my least favorite aspects of American nationalism is the part where it causes people to think that "rah rah my team!" is an actual strategy with respect to geopolitics and other, significantly larger countries.

I live here, so there's some bias, but pretending that everyone else is magically inferior because they're not on Team Murica is a shortsighted strategy.

China is kicking our ass in so many ways, and most of the American public seems stucks on stereotypes from decades ago.

We are not the same as the people south of our border. We have our own beliefs. Can anyone explain why it is acceptable for those beliefs from south of the border to be imposed upon us?

Do not confuse welfare with Universal Basic Income. If you get $1k in welfare does it make sense to take a $1k job, lose your welfare and end up with the same $1k? No.

If you get $1k UBI, does it make sense to take a $1k job and end up with $2k? Yes.

This is why so many pilots show increases in work.
