Oh man! Enough with the flags. Just because the flag shaggers do it, doesn't mean we need to do it too. We need to see real deeds, not fanny arse gimics. It's embarrassing. #scottishindependence is inevitable #UkIsAFailedState
The Guardian gotta Guardian - ‘absolute’ facts maybe but they shy away from any serious analysis of how in many areas Scotland is doing better than the other three countries - whoops, in their words, two countries and a principality) in many areas.
Unionism with a faux-socialist coat and stinking just as badly as without the coat.

Yip agreed Scotland is an occupied county but Westminster cannot stick their noses into matters already devolved ,they have interfered with some new legislation passed by all parties in the Scottish Parliament in their petty vengeful attempts to stamp their authority claiming these issues would disrupt the UK as a whole ,but who cares ..We are offski ..#ScottishIndependence is nigh, and that is a guaranteed certainty .
This is the Scottish peoples choice not theirs.
"The state of the [#ScottishIndependence] movement in 2024 reminds me of 2017 when Sturgeon decided to “take independence off the table” at the Scottish Parliamentary elections and totally scunnered SNP members.
I remember hearing reports of “indy-free” leaflets arriving from HQ and being binned by angry activists" -- Lesley Riddoch
Independence keeps the party together. Competent management of the Scottish economy and support of society are essential, but without independence they are nothing.
Jones makes more sense all the time. England has no choice, but I hope that voters in Scotland and Wales (NI is a different matter as Labour don't stand there) pay attention.
Labour are not and never have been our friends. A Scottish Labour, based in and caring for the country might be another matter. Not this group of junkies.
"It's not the #SNP or ‘divisive nationalism’ that drives so many in Scotland to support #ScottishIndependence and which has led a large majority of younger Scots to reject the idea of their country remaining forever under Westminster rule. It’s the chaos, corruption, and dysfunction of Westminster."
@OliverNoble@Kellys the #Greensought to be a far bigger challenge to the status quo than the SNP. The SNP want a change in governance structure to less than half a percent of the planet, while leaving corporate interests largely unaffected. The Greens want – and need – and entire overthrow of the global economic system.
@OliverNoble@Kellys This is why I think #ScottishIndependence would be an enormously good thing for the left in #England. If they could look to a country just across the border and speaking very nearly the same language pursuing much more left wing policies (as we would) and succeeding (as I believe we would), it would be easier to persuade folk in England that they deserved those good things too.
Right on Keir. Your primary thoughts seem to be ending divisions by centralising power in Westminster and denying process and control to the other three countries in this ‘so precious Union’ - one that is long past its use by date.
You don't care about or even care to represent Scottish interests - what is nonsense really about?
"There’s a democratic problem, too. Ironically, by introducing democracy into the antique 1707 union, devolution showed why it no longer works. “Partnership” in a democratised union where 85% of the citizens belong to one member, England, can only be a fiction" -- Neal Ascherson on the need for #ScottishIndependence
"only with full powers to make law, negotiate and borrow can Scotland do the heavy lifting needed to tackle the legacies of intractable ill-health and a century of staggering underinvestment in all kinds of infrastructure" -- Neal Ascherson on #ScottishIndependence
"there’s not the slightest sign in the #SNP of the fearlessness such “illegal’’ behaviour would require. So the wish for #ScottishIndependence will survive, even though the vehicle to carry it sits on the hard shoulder with flat tyres" -- Neal Ascherson on the useless SNP
A pretty 'meh' column, but interesting because it holds up to a predominantly middle England reader the prospect of real change and benefit for England with #ScottishIndependence
Does this tipping point in the narrative show a shift in mood?
@kuantancurls I was very surprised by the article, the typical guardian #snpbad might be in there but there is also a message of inevitability for #ScottishIndependence in there. And the point about the #SNP being maybe a touch too lawful-good in their dealings with westmonster feels valid, especially since they have taken the gloves off and are directly interfering in devolved matters.
