@bud_t Enjoyable walking around, but the not a lot of activity. They did have a lost kid yesterday. Today's biggest drama was someone missing their wallet and bag, but it MAY have been their packed their wallet in bag and put in in their car, and they were not sure... and that whole drama would have to be handed over to campus security, out of our area. (I think they misplaced their own stuff).

@bud_t The biggest actual issue this surfaced was net control could not reliably hear someone's (new) handheld, which everyone else could hear, and I highly suspect the new radio was programmed NARROW, with the net control radio being an older WIDE only radio which only caught deviation on the peaks.... No one wanted to debug it, but I told the radio owner what I thought they should look at.

@bud_t Anytone... did not see the model #... But I do know a lot of radios now auto-program narrow if you don't specify wide.

@me_valentijn @GreenFire Yep, they'd do it no matter what, they just find this point of time in our history more amenable to exercising their racism. As someone who has been spat upon (as a little kid) by racists and nearly beaten, for the color of my skin, any arguments about how the victims of racism are to blame is false.

@me_valentijn @GreenFire In that case -- no shortage of racism in my childhood, but this was the worst -- I was going shopping with my parents -- I must have been only 7 or 8, as I recall my brother was being carried -- we were walking into a grocery store in Salt Lake City, Utah -- and two men in a pickup truck saw us, jumped out of their vehicle, and started swearing and telling us to "go home where you came from". They spat on us, and I remember them coming up to us and spitting on me. We ran into the store as they tried to hit my family... I don't know how we managed to not get clobbered, but I remember the workers in the store somehow got involved... (continued).

@me_valentijn @GreenFire ... the two people who had tried to beat us up/spit on us jumped in their pickup truck while yelling racial epithets at us.... The cops were not called, for some reason. (I did, however, get into numerous fights with some neighborhood kids later on in life, but I don't know if that was because I was the one non-Mormon kid in the school, because I was non-white in a 99.9% white neighborhood, because I wore glasses, or because I was kinda wimpy at that age...)

@me_valentijn @GreenFire To be fair, I did get in a fight with a kid (who I imagine either went to prison, joined a motorcycle gang, or is now a proud right wing lawmaker somewhere) who broke my glasses and gave me a bloody nose because my parents drank coffee, and because of that our "whole family is going to HELL". #coffeehell

@me_valentijn @GreenFire That thought immortalized in the "Book of Mormon" song "Spooky Mormon Hell" which in our local staging included two GIANT STARBUCKS CUPS. (don't see any photos of that scene online, but it is something only understood by those who grew up in the state).
