Idea: A new conference called "The Boring Security Conference". It covers topics and hands-on advice that are what actually keeps organizations secure. No zero-days, no APTs and no "if the criminal does these 39 things in precise order and you're not watching your owned" talks.

@chetwisniewski We need to back to basics. What are the little things that admins can do with the limited time they have, which is short?

I worry many admins feel, I am never going to be on top of security, why bother. I would not want to be an admin any more.

I looked after 250 users with a decent it budget, but I still didn’t have a patching solution and relied on WSUS for Windows Updates.

Started to play with Sections in Home Assistant and I love it. Thanks to @madelena and the team at @homeassistant for this release. Some examples. Please read the alt text. The MacBook Air version would still have room for a 4th column, but it seems I am limited to three. Hopefully that can change or I am wrong.

I believe this is just the start. I can't wait for the next released. I have always found dashboard very frustrating.

I dragged the loft and bedroom temperature card to Lounge and Hallway section respectively.
My original Dashboard. Zoomed to 80% so you can get the idea. The office and gym columns were vertical stacks
This is my MacBook Air view.

I have a question. My wife and I are new to XBox and gaming. We have found some of the games too fast and too many buttons to remember. Do you think we could play Starfield?

Like all good Home Assistant projects, one thing leads to another. I wanted to track my daily electricity costs. I sorted that pretty quickly.

This led to making a couple of cards with apexcharts-card.

The graph on the left will show the last 7 days of import cost, export profit and then the total cost. A minus will be a profit on the day. The graph goes back a week and won't be correct for another 4 days. Last two days are correct

The donut is the daily overview.

I have a Broadlink RM4 Pro and it has learnt all the commands. I can see them in the file. When I call the service it doesn't turn on the fan. There is no error when I call Remote: Send command. Any ideas on what I can check?

Sad news, the Home Assistant Solcast Integration is dead. The developer has pulled it and deleted it from GitHub.

https://github.com/hacs/integration/issues/3745

On the plus side BJReplay has forked it and it can be found here. It is not in HACS yet.

@spitfire @homeassistant @homeassistant @homeassistantinpills @homeassistant I tend to agree. I am sure plenty of people would have commented to say they appreciate all the work and please keep it up. You never know is also happening in someones life and this might have been the final straw.

bazcurtis,
@bazcurtis@mastodon.social avatar

@spitfire @homeassistant @homeassistant @homeassistantinpills @homeassistant I haven’t installed the fork yet. I may do it today. It is the automations and cards that are a pain. As ever it is quiet majority that get stuffed by this. If he was getting grief I can totally understand.

I know a few weeks back the Solcast API was down and yet their status page said it was ok. Users were asking for a fix that wasn’t his issue.

Just swapped over my Solcast Integration from the old version that was removed to the one hosted here.

https://github.com/BJReplay/ha-solcast-solar?tab=readme-ov-file

It seems to have gone well. I had to rename a couple of sensors, most people won't have to do that and update my config.yaml fine as I had some calculations going in there.
