Octopus Agile rates are not very good overnight. Better around lunchtime. I don’t think I will charge overnight tonight. Export will have to wait until it has topped up the battery.
I found an issue with my Home Assistant electricity cost coding. I had set the import cost to max. Of course it can go down during plunge pricing. I think I have fixed. I can test it again overnight with my plunge pricing.
I don’t think I have seen Agile prices like this since I have been on this tariff. -7p and -8p amazing. I will not be charging tonight and be discharging in the morning.
I like this new comparison feature in #OctopusWatch v5. I don’t have an #HeatPump, but added it out of interest. Version 5 is not out yet, I am beta testing.
The last seven days have been really good for our electricity costs. £-1.63. A good mix of plunge pricing, battery discharge and solar export. This includes the standing charge.
A weird battery day. As Agile was around 8p kWH for a few hours after lunch, I didn’t charge the battery last night. Some solar this morning topped up the battery, but not 100%
I charged to 100% after lunch. I then turned off the battery. No point using 8p kWH from battery when the live cost was still 8p. Some solar covered the washing/drying my wife was doing
Battery back on at 4pm. Now to dump some of the spare battery back to the grid
If you looked out the window you wouldn’t say it was the best solar day. Saying that the battery has been full since 8am and has been exporting most of the day. Exported 27p worth today.
The battery only charged to 80% last night. I assume this was due to the cold. It was -5c when I got up and it was like that all night. I managed to get it to 90% with an extra half hour slot.
I am writing up my first year with solar and battery post. I will post it later this week.

We produced 4441.7 kWh. This compared to the MCS prediction of 3513.38 kWh.
I used the standard unit rate to calculate what that would have cost to import and added the export of 1192.2 kWh which was £107.27. We saved £1592.41. Very happy with that.
