Finally some better pricing. Octopus Agile has been stuck around 15p kWh overnight for a while.

Octopus Agile rates are not very good overnight. Better around lunchtime. I don’t think I will charge overnight tonight. Export will have to wait until it has topped up the battery.

I found an issue with my Home Assistant electricity cost coding. I had set the import cost to max. Of course it can go down during plunge pricing. I think I have fixed. I can test it again overnight with my plunge pricing.

I don’t think I have seen Agile prices like this since I have been on this tariff. -7p and -8p amazing. I will not be charging tonight and be discharging in the morning.

I like this new comparison feature in v5. I don’t have an , but added it out of interest. Version 5 is not out yet, I am beta testing.

The sun made a late run to charge the battery. It made it to 100% and even exported a bit. Will be force discharging later.

The last seven days have been really good for our electricity costs. £-1.63. A good mix of plunge pricing, battery discharge and solar export. This includes the standing charge.

Battery is already 40% just from the solar. I will be discharging 10am to 11.30am. Then charging from midday to 3pm using the plunge pricing

A long price plunge tomorrow. Might as well turn off the battery. I will be discharging tonight.

Cheap Agile tonight. I will be dumping the battery later.

Free 100% green electricty? Don’t mind if I do, Octopus Energy

It’s possible because of Octopus’ Agile tariff. If you can shift your energy use you can save bigly😘

If you want to get consistently low energy bills from 100% renewable energy and a £50 bill credit for switching — click this lovers:

Well well well…

Who said shifting your energy use doesn’t pay?

85p bill as opposed to £2.63 for yesterday just by programming washing machine to come on when electricity was at its cheapest.

This morning I ironed work shirts and was paid by Octopus 4.56p per kWh for doing it 😇

You can save too, and have a £50 bill credit to get you going — click here to switch: https://share.octopus.energy/lush-leaf-269

Cheap overnight Agile slots. Battery is already at 100% and so exported as soon as the sun came up.

Already halved the cost for the day and the forecast says loads of solar to come. Looks like it will be the best profit of the day with pure solar.

If tomorrow’s prediction is correct we could well be dumping some power early in the morning. Mid morning is

Let’s hope his prediction is wrong. @smarthound. It is quite a way off so hopefully it will change. 🤞

I have posted our Solar Generation and Export numbers for February. I have added last year’s generations as a comparison.

An excellent day so far. Charged overnight with 8p kWh rate and have been exporting since the sun came up. Will we reach a profit today. Not sure.

A weird battery day. As Agile was around 8p kWH for a few hours after lunch, I didn’t charge the battery last night. Some solar this morning topped up the battery, but not 100%

I charged to 100% after lunch. I then turned off the battery. No point using 8p kWH from battery when the live cost was still 8p. Some solar covered the washing/drying my wife was doing

Battery back on at 4pm. Now to dump some of the spare battery back to the grid

If you looked out the window you wouldn’t say it was the best solar day. Saying that the battery has been full since 8am and has been exporting most of the day. Exported 27p worth today.

Makes up for some pretty blah slots.

The battery only charged to 80% last night. I assume this was due to the cold. It was -5c when I got up and it was like that all night. I managed to get it to 90% with an extra half hour slot.

I am writing up my first year with solar and battery post. I will post it later this week.

Headlines

We produced 4441.7 kWh. This compared to the MCS prediction of 3513.38 kWh.

I used the standard unit rate to calculate what that would have cost to import and added the export of 1192.2 kWh which was £107.27. We saved £1592.41. Very happy with that.
