JWST has very likely seen the most distant galaxy ever found, and I'm still kinda boggling about it. It's too big, too massive, and too bright to exist according to our current understanding of how the Universe works.
@badastro I like to think these astoundingly large/old/bright objects we keep turning up are not just because our best cosmological model is off but that that they are the result of technology developed by vastly more advanced civilizations than ours.
"maybe we need this in the future" is a bad idea for writing good code. If we need that flexibility in the future, other things will have changed as well. Better do it then, not complicating matters now.

@gondo A stiff prison sentence is the only appropriate sanction for someone who openly thumbs their nose at the law and who has been found in criminal contempt 10 times. If they don't lock him up at least for a little while the justice system will be viewed as weak and ineffective. They need to make an example of the treasonous clown and all of his ilk.
