In case you missed the boosts yesterday, the Death Cult LP from Jessica B. Kelly & The Void Conspiracy ( @jessica ), which includes a remix of the title track from my Skin Contact project, is out now! Available from Bandcamp and The Void Conspiracy's own website.

I had a lot of fun with this remix, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. There are also several other great remixes from Fedi artists that should not be missed.

Day 30: Final Entry

A drone generated with Reaktor, then heavily processed in Reaper. The ensemble I used is called Sludge Drone, but I couldn't find it in the user library again to link to it.

Well, this has been fun, and thanks again to @screwtape for bringing it to my attention. Also thanks to those who have listened and commented.

Curious what everybody feels about electric guitar strings! I want to try a set of Elixir strings. I like Ernie Ball regular slinky. Super slinky too. D’Addario (so?) have nice resonance but to me there is some uneven balance in tone and some muddiness in the lower ranges.

@ambergrey I tried Elixirs on my bass and was unimpressed (playing mostly with fingers not picks). They seemed to feel dead sooner than regular strings to me, and the coating wore away quickly, leaving weird dead-skin-like stuff hanging there. Ymmv of course. I've settled on Ernie Ball for bass and guitar after trying a few others. Generally heavyish gauges (to accommodate lower tunings) on guitars and lightish ones on bass.

@jessica Cool stuff. I had my best run in terms of both income from music and downloads (pre-streaming days) before Bandcamp was even a thing, so I know there's hope. The landscape is very different now of course, but I don't think that necessarily means doom.

I think you're right about the techy stuff being the barrier. I honestly can't say I look forward to dealing with that side of things again myself, but sadly it's the only way to avoid the corporate BS. I always kinda figured it was only a matter of time, and we had a pretty good run with BC. I think they lasted longer than mp3.com lol.

In the hospital. Wife had some sudden and intense abdominal pain. More exciting night than I had planned, I'll tell you what.

EDIT: MY poor grammar has mislead some of you. I am fine. Feeling great (physically). It's my wife who's got the appendicitis. She's headed to the hospital proper right now, and she will be going into surgery sometime in the next few hours, or perhaps early tomorrow morning. I'm home with the kids. Thanks for all the kind thoughts and well wishes. I'll pass them on.

Back to noisy stuff. :) Very low on spoons, so this one's pretty low-effort. The source audio is just me mousing around in CodeParade's Fractal Sound Explorer. This audio was then loaded into Reaper and treated in various ways.

Here's today's project, an song that I'm leaning toward throwing on the Death Cult LP as an exclusive to help pace the LP and be a 'thank you' for listeners of this collective effort.

I totally stole the verse vocal pattern from KMFDM's "Glory".

This is "They Want You Dead," a song about nearly everybody on the organized political spectrum being shitheads. (some more than others, yes)

Day 15

Something a bit different from the ambient and/or noisy stuff this time. This little chunk of kinda cheesy techno was made with Caustic (the phone app, which also has a free Win version). It started from a loop that's been kicking around on my phone for probably a year or so, but since it was the kind of idea that never fit with anything else I did (or was likely to do), it just sat there. Synthtember has given it a reason to live, lol.
