I love book recommendation lists but they often tend to upset me. My favorite kinds of lists are either international lit (where I am usually upset that there are not enough women represented) or books by non-male folks (where I am upset that it's often mostly English-writing folks).
So: here is a list of my personal recommendations of books by women in (English) translation. One book for every day of June. Feel free to join - doesn't have to be every day!
Empirically confirmed that an unopened jar of Turkish yoghurt can keep for 12+ hours in room temperature and stay good for another 7 days in the fridge after that.

on Day 1 I showed the GDP of countries by continent. While this already showed that Europe was leading, I felt it did not fully represent just how unequal the GDP is across the continent - also given that the continents have different number of counties.
In the makeover I tried to show the inequality better, by showing ALL COUNTRIES.
Personal update, in January I started as associate professor for data visualization in life science!
Teaching and still doing consulting & training - love to collaborate!
Hi social friends, I'm giving a talk next week about online communication, strategies, more big picture than specific nitty gritty. For libraries.
But I do want to include some stuff like "If you're not including alt text, you're not including everybody," focusing on being positive but not chirpy, interactive but not desperately grasping for engagement, being mindful of microaggressions and content warnings and decent apologies if needed. Good policies.
If you are drafting figures for a scientific paper or presentation, remember that https://scidraw.io/ exists: a repository of free SVG cartoons for science.
