I honestly enjoy writing good, descriptive alt text. Once you get used to it, it's no longer a chore, rather a fun exercise.

It gives you an opportunity to focus on the image you're sharing, sometimes revealing details you might miss.

It's a great writing challenge as well.

And it's just the right thing to do to help folks who rely on it.

Speaking of challenging, data visualizations are definitely up there.

It's interesting to look at how different people approach these types of charts, for example.

Color can be a great way to distinguish data points in charts. But don't rely on color alone to convey information, as that can make things difficult for colorblind users. Using different shapes or patterns can help. Make sure patterns or textures are simple and not distracting.

Mehrad,

@A11yAwareness
In some cases like heatmaps which using patterns and shapes are not possible, we can use colorblind-compatible color palettes to make them more accessible:

14 out of 28 constituencies in Karnataka will vote in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. Past records show that the BJP has had an edge in LS elections over Assembly elections in the last 3 election cycles in the state. For Congress, the trend has been the opposite. Which way could Karnataka vote in 2024? Here are 3 charts which answer this question.

There is a wonderful period in the late 1950's and 60's where science fact and science fiction intermingle as enthusiasm for the space age was gaining momentum.
In this Solar System map (c. 1966) the latest views from the Mariner IV are mixed with a manned vehicle to Mars and views from the surfaces of numerous planets. There's and optimism that made things feel attainable.
