My name is Elizabeth but please call me Lisa.

I'm probably best known as the person who started the #Safari and #WebKit projects at #Apple. You may think you know my deadname but... you don't.

I've drawn underground comics, pioneered using a Mac for newspaper graphics and developed software at Adobe and Netscape.

Now I write video #transcoding scripts and sometimes podcast.

March 31 was already significant to me because that's the day in 1998 when I helped #Netscape Navigator become #OpenSource.

Now this day has a whole new meaning for me as a #transgender woman. And it's my first #TransDayOfVisibility that I celebrate publicly since coming out to everyone on June 21 of last year.

To all my #trans siblings, I see you. Even if complete visibility isn't possible for you right now. You still matter. You're still loved. And you're still trans. Never doubt that. 🏳️‍⚧️🫂💖

Two weeks ago, a build of Mastodon's Web interface removed two features which impacted me, other power users and some folks with accessibility issues.

And many of us complained 'cause, well, it kinda sucked.

But @renchap and the developers listened to us! And they didn't just back out those changes. No, they restored the functionality integrated with other new features.

So, I wanted to publicly thank them for all that hard work and landing it last week. Y'all rock! 💖

I'm a little sad today. Not just for remembering the passing of Steve Jobs. But after almost a year of being here, I'm finally having to block trolls on Mastodon. Dammit.

These assholes should realize that I spent a decade working for Steve. So, this girl doesn't get intimidated.

And I almost pity the poor motherfuckers who try to mansplain Web browsers or video transcoding to me. Almost.

I was checking my profile for other reasons and noticed that I'm hovering just 15 followers shy of 20,000. Eeeek! 😱 Yes, I know it says "20K" but Mastodon started rounding up to that weeks ago. 🤷‍♀️

First, I'm humbled that so many people follow me to get a curated feed of the Fediverse. Thank you! 🥰

Second, being OCD, I'm kinda annoyed that I'm not quite at that big round number. 🤣

2023 was a big year for me. Very big. Coming out as transgender. Beginning HRT. Having my orchiectomy.

2024 will be big, too. My divorce is final on day one, January 1st. After the remaining financial ties are untangled and separated, I can legally change my name.

And by the end of the new year, hopefully the U.S. government won't fall to the Nazis who want to murder me and my people.

Should be interesting times.

Today I'm a single woman. That just keeps messing with my head. Thirty-three years of marriage over. And I feel so many different things about it. Failure, loneliness, anger, relief, joy and even wonder. At what comes next, mostly.

What will I do? I am literally making this up as I go along. And ironically, that makes me feel normal.

Here's a virtual hug for anyone else going through separation or divorce. You can do this and you will survive. 🫂💖

My friend Gemma rescued two dogs, now named Carmelo and Brick, cruelly tied up and abandoned in Burlingame, California. And she's asking for help.

The animal shelter is unable to keep them or adopt them out because both animals have a tremendous fear of humans and need re-training before being placed in homes.

But training and caring for them costs money. And if there's not enough soon, both dogs will have to be put down.

I always use the advanced Web interface for Mastodon to do my "boosting thang" efficiently.

Normally I don't comment on the software. But a sudden change to the Notifications tab in the v4.3.0-nightly.2024-03-18 build is really pissing me off.

I can now only choose between viewing "All" and "Mentions." Gone is the ability to easily filter by notification type in the column header.

WTF?!? This is a hostile UI simplification. Please revert this. Thank you.

Some of you may wonder why I don't post more. Two reasons, really.

First, I do have other responsibilities in this life and quality posting takes time. At least for me.

Second, I read an absolute metric fuckton of toots before I boost any of them! And that takes even more time. You may think it's a torrent, but you're seeing less than 1% of what I read.

One of these days I might write a blog post on how I find them all and then select them. Would any of you be interested in that?
