I've been a little less active on the front so I haven't had to delete my old VODs in a while but I'm starting to push 500 GB with my storage provider again so it's spring cleaning time.

I do download and archive my streams to long term storage. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll re-upload all of them for good but for now my funds are finite.

At least it's better than twitch or YouTube which have a much shorter retention period for their live streaming VODs. I keep mine for 3 months

On a semi-related note I'll do a status update post on my vlog channel to discuss the progress on my web site that I'm refactoring. The good news is that I'm getting pretty close to finishing phase 1 which is to replace the existing site at http://blog.surazal.net

I plan on copying over all my old blog posts over. There are only 17 of them, but I had image attachments on them so I also have to re-upload those as well. I moved my storage location from New York to Chicago too.

The electric company finally moved the cable going from the electric pole to the house today. Power went out for a bit. For some weird reason my MacBook decided to reboot. I didn't lose any work but I did end up having to pick up where I left off in my project and I suddenly stopped being motivated though I want to get this done this week. 😅

We don't need AI "clones" in virtual meetings on Zoom or anywhere else. All you need to do is pretend you're paying attention while getting actual work done like we've been doing for years. You're looking at the computer monitor anyways.

So I just learned about the Cara dot app site today since it became the new hotness especially with the creative crowd, and... hmm.

It always baffles me when people leave a proprietary platform, loudly complaining about its proprietariness, only to join another proprietary platform.

The fediverse has its warts and all, and since it's still in early adoption phase it doesn't have the instant gratification you get from those centralized services, but I'll take it any day over another IG clone.

I'm going to try to expand the list of instances I follow from my server. I've noticed the servers I'm currently federating with tend to lean towards being highly technical. It's not that this is a bad thing since that also reflects my personal interests, but a little variety doesn't hurt.

@DavBot Oh, I got what you meant. By "spread" you meant dispersing. I took it to mean they were spreading out as in attracting new creators, which was the opposite of what you meant. 😅

I refactored the build process for the web page to remove the rollup HTML plugin. Apparently it was linked to a lightningcss recompiled plug-in that kept erroring out on the ARMv7 architecture (something about not being able to allocate a TLS block which seemed kinda fishy to me).

I decided the only thing I really needed a rollup process for was to compile the JavaScript to make sure it was a little bit backwards compatible. I also disabled minification because it wasn't needed.

The web page is coming along nicely. I have settled down on the architecture which lets me plunk in and move around entire sections of the site as needed. I'm already thinking of next steps.

I think I'll do the blog part next. Most of the infrastructure is in place and I can copy the rest from the old site.

After that, images. I have the S3 object storage part done already, but the frontend needs to know how to display that data. Again, not a big lift. I just need to Git 'R Done.

Well shit, I use Stripe for "content creation" activities (When you donate to my PeerTube instance it's one of the options through LiberaPay that I use).

I really hope they give some clarification here because I remember the last time I had to endure a "challenge" it was really stressful.

For anyone who uses #LetsEncrypt along with #GoDaddy to get wildcard support for their domains, be aware that GoDaddy changed their API so that the DNS challenge no longer works. That means the godaddy certbot plugin can no longer validate your domain via TXT record.

I'll be moving away from GoDaddy anyways so it wasn't really a big deal for me, but the only workaround is to remove the old configuration for Let's Encrypt and manually specify all your domains when getting new certs.

@rmbolger Yeah, that's the change I was talking about, but I ran out of room in my toot so I had to cut out some of the details. 😅 I was also working on this until midnight last night just to figure out what was going on so I may have been a bit delirious.

It's very obvious this is a money grab on their part. I've been threatening to jump ship with them for a while but I think it's time to make the leap this summer.
