@gimulnautti @jensorensen True, but it was made much, much worse by the growing economic uncertainty. The Dems quelled that by rolling out progressive programs in the 1930s and '40s that greatly helped the working classes and eased those economic anxieties. With the Dems being every bit as bought off as the GOP today, we're seeing a resurgence of those same anxieties as back then and it's only going to get worse.

@mcv @notjustbikes @jfmezei TBF, the recent bridge collapse in Baltimore was due to an accident, not because of neglect. The last bridge collapse I personally recall was the I-35W Mississippi River bridge here in Minnesota back in 2007. Not only was that on the state list of bridges that are in desperate need of replacement, it was also carrying a significantly larger amount of weight on a daily basis than it was designed to.

@Npars01 @TechConnectify You can blame the GOP all you want, but the Dems own a share of that. They serve corporate donors almost as much as the GOP does, but they make sure it looks like it's the GOP driving it. Funny how just enough Democrats vote alongside Republicans to ensure truly progressive legislation tanks. The few times the Dems can manage to pass legislation that seems to benefit the working classes, the primary goal is to benefit corporate interests.

@lin11c @Npars01 @TechConnectify Don't get your hopes up about the Dems doing away with the filibuster. They need the GOP to have the ability to derail progressive legislation so the GOP takes the blame for their mutual donors being served. It's 100% up to voters to change the political landscape. We all need to show up to vote during the primaries to replace the do-nothing establishment Democrats on the ballot with people who actually want to serve working class voters.

@jensorensen I don't know about the top right panel. I find it hard to believe even an AI reporter could appeal to everyone in such a polarized world in which even otherwise mundane things are turned into culture war issues. If the AI bot displays any sensitivity to minority groups, it'll be derided as "woke." If it appeals to right wingers, it'll be called bigoted by everyone else. There's not a whole lot of middle ground.

@notjustbikes Haters/trolls are going to find something to complain about no matter what. Their comments count towards engagement, and helps the video and the channel. If you want to have some fun, troll the trolls by replying to their comments thanking them for providing valuable engagement, welcoming them to click the dislike button, and reminding them the only thing they can do that would truly count as a negative is to never click on one of your videos ever again. @kierkegaank @flexghost Thing is, the Dems less interested in controlling who can vote than they are in controlling who you can vote for. They focus their efforts on the party primaries to ensure their preferred pro-corporate candidate gets the nomination.

@mrblissett @kierkegaank @flexghost Yes, which is why it's so important for enough people to vote in the party primaries to ensure good candidates get the nomination in the first place. That is when the voter information and get-out-the-vote campaigns need to happen. The more informed voters choosing to nominate an uncorrupted candidate, the harder it is for the party leadership to force through the corrupt candidate they've preselected.

@wagesj45 @ChrisPirillo If you mean that my comment sounds like I'm not being very compassionate, I'm not. The video sounds to me like an attempt to make the argument that men are somehow oppressed, that "the system" is biased against them. I have little patience or sympathy for that.

Meanwhile, most of city councilmen and state/federal legislators writing laws are men. Most of the lawyers and judges are men. When it comes to divorce law and judgements, men are not being oppressed.
