    selfportraits

    A selfportrait in black and white, where I am standing in front of a wall using an umbrella to make it look like a dress. At the edge of the umbrella a string of light is attatched to make some light at the bottom of the "dress". I am looking to the right with closed eyes and my head down and my hair is haniing down infront of me at the left side and behind my shoulder on the right sisde. both sides of my head covering most of my shouldersYou can see my feet under the light and to the left of my feet lays a box of matches on the floor. Some shadows to the lower left side some pale shadows reminding of the roofs of some sort of building.

    @ambivalena Wow, those are really great, Lena! Very creative compositions! Great idea to use an umbrella for the "dress" so you could spin it. Nice touch putting the box of matches there as if you lit your dress with them.

    @ambivalena A different story from the one in your photos, but with a similar concept of moving light, have you ever thought about getting into fire spinning? I can imagine you'd have fun with that! :) This is Jenny Jinx of Controlled Burn in Reno at the Truckee snowsheds. The snowsheds are in the high Sierra on the now abandon route of the First Transcontinental Railroad from 1869. There use to be lots of cool street art in the sheds but now it is mostly graffiti. :/

    A color photo of a woman with her arms extended out from her sides. This is the same as the first photo except the two large interlaced circles of fire now have two smaller circles of fire, kind of like eyes in the larger circles, that surround her from torches on short chains that she is spinning. She has two braided ponytails hanging down to her chest and she wears a black narrow brimmed hat, a dark blue tanktop with black vest, and black pants with a silver design suggesting burning flames. She is standing in front of a medium sized mural, about twice as tall as she is. There is vertical black lettering running from, it appears, bottom to top. It's uncertain what the four letter like figures spell. The central letters split a woman's face and neck drawn in blacks and grays but with dark blue eyes. She has shoulder length hair and a blank look.

    Lol--after 15 years I finally resurrected my 1978 Kawasaki KZ400 "Reloaded"! I put nearly 50 miles on it today but for some reason the battery wasn't charging so I had to park it and put it on charge. I wonder what's wrong with it? ;)

    Among deers, a fox and grunting wild boars (so I was singing and whistling loud) I wen´t out since I had a feeling that it might be some aurora borealis tonight.

    And yes I was right. At first it was very pale but just when I decided to pack my gear and go home I thought I saw some movement that could be a pilar of red light, and there she was, dancing again even though it is very bright at nights where I live now.
    I shouted WOHOOO and laughed out loud out of pure joy to thank her 💚 ❤️

    The same forest as in the previous image but moved the focus a bit to the right. Above the trees some green aurora borealis is visible even though it is not especially dark at 00:47 a.m. local time, UTC+2. The sky above has some visible stars and some cloud viels and stripes. Just above the horizon to the right some of the sunlight is still visible as a yellow thin stripe and there is a woman standing to the low right side in profile with her arms up in the air out of happiness. She is only visible down to her waist and she is only wearing a t-shirt even though it is just +3ºC.

    We smelled gas in our house, so now the fire department is here in full gear with masks and oxygen, and they’re clearing the house.

    They smell it too, so at least I don’t feel like I’m crazy. Much excitement!

    @grammargirl Glad you caught it and no harm was done! Imagine if you had been gone for a few days--yikes! Gas is dangerous stuff. Once when I was working in a cable vault with a blow torch, blue flames started burning around the conduit that was protruding from the ground. I called the gas company and they ended up evacuating the entire neighborhood!

    McKenzie River Trail: Part 1

    I’m hanging out at the famous Blue Pool this morning eating lunch and drying out my tent. It rained a bit while I slept but was only misting by the time I was packing up. I’ve already covered a large portion of the trail last night and this morning. This trail is a gem, I love it out here. I believe the waterfall corridor is next. Just a quick post, more photos to come.

    Here's the aurora through conifer trees & sunspot complex 3664 that produced the solar storm. (Large dark area on the right limb of the sun). It's 17x larger than the Earth! Richard Carrington made a drawing of a similar spot in 1859 that produced a solar storm which lead to the Carrington Event. A Carrington Event today would severally damage satellites, power grids, & communications. In 1859, it caused fires in telegraph offices & the aurora was so bright people could read by it!

    @ambivalena Oh no, it just happened that the Carrington sunspot in 1859 was of similar size and at nearly at the same latitude on the sun's surface as the sunspot last week. Sorry I wasn't clearer about that. I haven't seen anything official, and apparently last week's event hasn't been named yet, but I did see it suggested that last weekend's aurora were the strongest in 500 years! Also, that next year will mark the solar maximum in this cycle.

    @ambivalena I'm not sure. It was some guy on Youtube that said it was the strongest in 500 years. But now that I think about it, it couldn't be because it was said that the auroras cause by the Carrington event in 1859 were bright enough in the state of Kansas that people could read newspapers by them and that miners in California got up and started making breakfast because they thought the day was beginning. Last week's aurora was no where near that bright at mid-latitudes.

    To mark the beginning of the end for the most infamous cold-blooded killer in modern history, I present The "Prison, not the Kremlin" campaign is taking place in The . Today, Putin was fake inaugurated in Russia. Everyone knows Putin is a murderous thug and Russia is a mafia state.

    In Europe, they showed that he is a criminal and his place is not on the throne but in prison. For this event, sculptor Jacques Till specially made a figure of Putin in handcuffs and prison clothes.
