Bears sign defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to one-year deal (www.nbcsportschicago.com)
The Bears are aiming to fix their gap at edge rusher, signing veteran defensive end Yannick Ngakoue
wjmaggos, (edited ) Everybody admits #JustinFields had no support and did well with what he was given. That he handled it in the media better than anybody could expect. His teammates loved him. And now just as the #ChicagoBears were surrounding him with talent, they trade him for an unknown quantity. And we only have this top pick because last year's top sure thing QB didn't turn out that way. I don't fucking get it. #NFL
wjmaggos, (edited ) Damnit. Who do I want to win today when the #ChicagoBears have the Panthers' first round pick but they're playing the Packers today? #NFL
wjmaggos, (edited ) I don't want to care about sports but the #ChicagoBears just do matter to me. There's nothing else so meaningless that really just sets my mood for the whole fucking week. I guess it's patriotism but for the city I love somehow. I wish they could somehow be publicly owned, but the McCaskeys feel like family. #nfl
musicman, @wjmaggos What cured me of caring about high level professional sports was finding a supporter owned team like Minneapolis City SC. Not sure if there is anything close to you though.
wjmaggos, but it still feels so good when they win etc.
wjmaggos, That's #ChicagoBears football. We bring other teams (almost) down to our level. Boring ass games. Doing just enough to keep everybody in town paying attention until they break our hearts in the last few minutes. And we'll gladly do it again next week for as long as they let us. Hell of a relationship we got going on here. #nfl
Wheels,
wjmaggos, I usually nap in the 3rd and get very excited in the 4th, till I start crying. But that's on Sundays historically.
jamigibbs, Here comes the "eat up the play clock" football by the #ChicagoBears only to never get into field goal range and lose the game anyway. 🙄
jamigibbs, The #ChicagoBears are definitely drafting a QB next year. 😭
fahrni, @jamigibbs That good huh?
therealahall, My poor wife. She’s using terms like “we” and “us” when referring to the #ChicagoBears now. Welcome to a lifetime of hell babe.
emmreef, Amazon Prime members should get a free voucher for a trip on Blue Origin for next week's #TNF game being the #ChicagoBears vs the #CarolinaPanthers
therealahall, So far, this game has been pretty solid from the Bears. Long of hard running football and keeping pressure off Bagent. I would like to see him stretch the field a bit more than he has
therealahall, @wjmaggos 100000% agree that the coaching staff did not design an offense for Fields to thrive. Even with him, they are still doing a ton of check downs and screens. I don't think Bagent is necessarily the answer, but it was nice to see someone who looked confident under center as opposed to the deer in headlights looks Fields has had most of this season.
wjmaggos, cause he learned to play a different kind of football and excelled at it and they put him in this manage the game crap. nothing feels right to him. he had to run a lot more last season than he ever did in college. he's great at the long ball which takes time for WRs to get down field. which requires an OL. I'll agree he's still slow to read defenses but that's at least partially due to expecting constant pressure.
wjmaggos, The #ChicagoBears should now be focused on a new head coach and offensive coordinator that #JustinFields wants to work with. if they can all get on the same page and feel comfortable before the draft, you take Marvin Harrison Jr but use the other pick to do whatever other teams do to successfully build their offensive lines. otherwise, trade Justin and take a QB and completely rebuild. #NFL
laimis, @wjmaggos isn't that how you set back the franchise even further back, if that's possible? A player that has had three years to prove he is a special talent has been terrible and now he will be an influence to who is getting hired to coach him? His comments that coaching is a problem was a disaster, take some responsibility and be a professional.
wjmaggos, you might be right but I don't know that you can put the blame on Justin yet. we did not design the offense around his skill set. the Bears have never had a good quarterback and might just fuck up whoever we put in that position. unless you're pretty sure that won't happen, we might just be setting the team up to repeat the last three years no matter who we draft. if there's a chance he can be ok with more support, you make that solid so you can switch QBs later. maybe.
wjmaggos, (edited ) This appears to prove my worst nightmare about the #ChicagoBears. Maybe this can change but the case is made very well here. #JustinFields didn't need to develop this essential skill much with the quality of receivers he had at Ohio State.

emmreef,
emmreef, #ChicagoBears Defensive Coordinator quitting today to focus on "health & family" and it has nothing to do with how poorly they played or the fact that their next game is against the #KansaaCityChiefs
jamigibbs, @emmreef tbh it would make more sense for the Offensive Coordinator to resign but 🤷🏻♀️. Dumpster fire all around.
wjmaggos, Fucking #ChicagoBears.
blitzed, @wjmaggos WAIT, what? I thought it was da bears?
wjmaggos, I thought they fixed their offensive line and liked to throw the long ball now.
