@JustineSmithies your dotfiles on codeberg have been helpful (qtile wayland and river)^^

it's not much but I've been less than a month on .

The use of tags/workspaces is original and very flexible. I still have to discover the way people create their own layout (rivertile is perfect though).

@JustineSmithies I have on my laptop (which is basically like a testing station) running . I am still trying to grab my head around the feature. Even the rewrite in their wiki doesn't get through my denseness.

@samurro @JustineSmithies Sorry, I have no idea how else to explain tags :/

I am updating my river setup article and will try to add graphics / visualisations to the tags section, maybe that'll make things clearer.

@JustineSmithies
1: how my screen looked like when I read your post
2: empty desktop, no bar but clock and neko
3: quick mock up of how I usually work: two kakoune terms, one nfm / shell term

not shown: email, irc because of privacy reasons, various desktop widgets because they are hard to show off.

Why river? It's the least annoying Wayland desktop. Efficient, takes "every frame is perfect" seriously, basically never breaks, easy to hack / extend, mildly scriptable

@JustineSmithies Bonus picture: physical setup I really should de-clutter sometime

@JustineSmithies The browser screenshot isn't typical though, usually I have two firefox windows open side-by-side. Also I usually use mpv for music, cmus is only for when I want to listen to a specific song / album since I haven't yet written a script to comfortably do that in mpv.

Firefox here has some user chrome magic to hide the UI.

@JustineSmithies somewhat recent, still current though:

I live in the terminal. Nothing can beat that workflow.

Why RiverWM?
Because its flexible enough to bend to my needs, works and is reasonably lightweight.

@Anachron @JustineSmithies Is that a script to automate converting from raw to another format so that you don't even have to open the rawtherapee GUI? nice.

@lhp @JustineSmithies

That's right!

It reads the exifdata to check which camera and lens I used and then uses the appropiate profile for it.

In another step I check the ISO and retouch based on it.
