Here's the thing though:

I can tell people offline about the Fediverse. Public data scraping is the least of my issues with Facebook.

Please see https://fedia.io/m/DefederateMeta/t/13685/Why-m-DefederateMeta for some links that show how Facebook and Instagram have done far more harm to people with their platform than Gab could ever hope to.

I refuse to provide valuable network effects for a company with such a horrendous record on human rights and social justice.

@smallpatatas Sure! I thought my network went down, then I realized I could not access it over cellular network. I then visited the Down For Everyone Or Just Me (https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com) site which confirmed it was down.

@smallpatatas 😂 Okay, I will check it out later. For what it’s worth, I do recognize #Meta’s entrance into the #Fediverse as inevitable as it is alarming. However, I do not want history to repeat itself again, so I am seeking a scenario where decentralization wins.

It would help if other players like #Tumblr got onboard.
