This is a silly idea. But it works. I saw Dan Q wondering about plaintext WordPress themes - so I made one. This is what this blog looks like using it: The Code You only need two files. An index.php and a style.css. The CSS file can be empty, but it needs to exist - […]
I think what saddens me most about the growing number of #WordPress takes like this is the gaslighting by the "community" which insists everything is awesome. What is worse is the "if you don't like it, fix it" garbage from the same people. WordPress, as a project, has never been good about taking contributions that don't align with the goals of a very few. Today's WP is no different. Something I frequently need in Siren is a flowchart to help explain how different affiliate programs work, so I'm putting together a flowchart block. Making good use of the LeaderLine library and core's group block, as well as an existing card block I already had laying around. Really loving how much less code I'm writing to do simple stuff like flex layouts with full site editing.
One project I have kept up with for 2 years now is Kana, a #WordPress development environment. I haven't talked about it too much but, as I've transitioned back to development work, particularly with WordPress, I'm really impressed at how great it has been for my workflow already and I've identified plenty I can do to make it even better. https://chriswiegman.com/2024/05/the-state-of-kana-a-status-report/
