Following on from what seems by this example a rather cute, parochial prank on the BBC by Joe Lycett, the NYT absolutely bricks it on the basics.
Switch "Iranian" for "American" - can you see what the correct answer is now, NYT?

My very basic knowledge of diplomatic missions tells me that they are the sovereign territory of the country they represent.

So Israel just bombed Iran. No ifs, no buts. Israel just violated Iranian sovereign territory.
