Between app purchases and donations to the network itself, I’ve spent more money in a year on Mastodon than I have in a lifetime on traditional, centralized algorithmic social media.
I appreciate not being the product, just the user.
@lenzgr@veedems Right now I'm hosting mastodon and peertube on a linode which is currently costing me £60+ a month for the pair.
Now for peertube, the static content is separate but for the backend it doesn't need to be external so I should be able to move them to a local vm for both, and the videos stay external.
