I don’t get indenting with spaces. Why use more characters than necessary ? Plus it allows everyone to choose how wide they want their tabs to be !
You shouldn’t be aligning anything more precisely than tab stops let you anyways. This kind of cosmetic alignment eventually causes your diffs to be less legible, because they’re full of white space changes to keep the alignment.
Because of this, I indent with tabs, and only tabs. Though the most important thing remains consistency. Don’t indent with tabs if all your colleagues have agreed on spaces. Ideally you should have a formatted enforcing these kinds of rules anyways, keeps the diffs more legible.
The article ends with “This is the way it works. It needs to change.” and the question then is, how? What can an ordinary user do? Or is it more about how large scale projects are run, in scope and ambition? Is it about money? More audits? What is the most pragmatic real world solution that would make a difference?
LibreWolf is a privacy hardened fork. Floorp does remove some annoyances like pocket and telemetry, but probably not strict as LibreWolf. It adds to firefox in the customization section with native vertical tabs, sidebars, moving the navigation bar to the bottom, etc.
I used LibreWolf a long time ago, so probably not up-to-date on it, though.
Trying it out right now, seems really solid. Took a while to get all my extensions ported over with all my settings. Wish Firefox sync could sync that stuff too. I love the side tabs, with tabscroller extension it's a blast. Gonna try as my main browser for a while
I host my own Joplin and wife and I sync our notes to it and we love it. She’s non-technical and has no issues figuring it out, but we use minimal features. It did just get the ability to draw pictures as well, but we use that mostly just for the kids to play with.
Yeah Joplin is nice. I sync it to a free 10GB Dropbox account and use it on Linux and iOS. I've also used it with Android and Windows in the past, it's available everywhere and works great.
According to the article, the content stays, just cannot add more notes or notebooks. I followed the link to Evernote FAQ, and it says:
In keeping with Evernote’s 3 Laws of Data Protection, and to ensure that all users retain full ownership of their data, any Free user who currently has more than fifty notes and one notebook will still be able to view, edit, export, share, and delete existing notes and notebooks.
