@georgetakei She was probably thinking of Coca Cola - there's a longstanding rumour that you can dissolve a tooth placed in a glass of cola.

I swear I also saw someone using coffee to either weather and age something (wood?) or clean metal placed in it.

Never considered there could be lore surrounding Diet Mountain Dew though.
