This had me curious if there are any stories of developers who applied to a company only to be able to fix some bug that was frustrating them as a user.

@djlink closest I get was a designer at rare that had a dream feature to add to the game and left almost immediately after it got implemented (worked for several years, told us it was a coincidence but a nice story).

@djlink There is this joke:

How to compile chromeium. Step 1: Get hired by google.

(i cant actually say anything about the chromoum build tooling, but building the android gradle plugin has been broken outside of using googles internal tooling for at least 3 years.)

bucketfish,

@djlink i saw this post screenshotted onto instagram once (as does the usual "5 social media platforms filled with screenshots of the other 4"), but i'm inclined to think that it's true https://twitter.com/swaglord__420/status/1377051721655066629

@bucketfish I hope this is true xD

@djlink I think these "get hired to fix a bug and quit" stories are just plain fiction

I work at a big company and can't get them to fix things that "everyone knows" are wrong...

@luisfcorreia I feel so too, but I mean there must be someone who did that

@djlink it may have happened, back in the 70's or 80's
