Re-running a poll I saw on Mastodon a while ago, before various migrations. Just collecting numbers, not seeking advice or anything. Please boost for reach.
After first such poll I remember feeling really good to not be in a minority for once! I hoped to share the feeling with more people, and it worked!
Do not despair about Chrome majority. As long as there's active core of people fighting the rules of easy consumption, we can still win the Internet back. It already happened with MS IE, it can happen to Google Chrome.
The poll collected ~10000 votes. Keep it in mind as a reference number for reach.
@isagalaev Probably not a popular opinion here, but I use a browser as a last resort: if i can find a native app to do something and it works well, I use that. If that doesn't pan out I drop down to a browser. And then it's Safari because it's a well behaved Mac app, both in terms of how the app works and how well it plays for resource use on a Mac. I use Mastodon 3rd party apps whenever possible, and they're a lot of fun for a lot of reasons.
@isagalaev Firefox and Safari. I never ditched Firefox for Chrome back in the day. I never liked Chrome, and I found it concerning when every browser other than Firefox and Safari switched to Chromium.
@isagalaev Quite liked Edge until recently, and it's just got more unlikeable by the day. E.g. Collections were a useful feature, now it's just another dumping spot for Ads and useless jank from "Creators". Also syncing with Linux breaks too regularly. Happily back on FF now.
@isagalaev after using Arc for a quite big amount of time, I came back to Firefox because it just is a better experience. Didn’t go with Safari because of the AppStore centric way to get add ons.
@isagalaev Chrome (non-Google flavor, currently Sidekick & Vivaldi) - but seriously considering switching to Firefox, which I left years ago because it was, at the time & on my system*, a colossal ressource hog, bogging me down to a crawl on a daily basis...
*I run ancient Macs; still currently on a 2012 Macbook Pro/Catalina
