Could somebody give me an actual use for the gigantic collection of game show theme songs I have sitting on my hard drive right now?

celrock,

@evilcookies98 I have an idea! Put them in as a cart, and run a contest on your Cookie Jar show, where you play one of them, and the first listener to guess what show it comes from, is entered into a drawing to win a prize of some sort. Maybe perhaps, an Amazon or ITunes gift card. Run the contest for a month or 2, or for however long you do it for, and then, at the end of the month or multiple months you run it, draw a name, and that person will be the winner! And the reason why I recommend you run them in a cart, is those won't show up in the title bar of streaming players. If you find carts too difficult to set up, you can also accomplish this by inserting the game show theme song for that week into your playlist, as a general spot.

@celrock I like carts. They make my life so much easier when I want to get something in as close to the top of the hour as possible.

celrock,

@evilcookies98 I like carts for playing sound effects, as I have an applause crowd cheering cart, and another cart with an Awww sound effect in it. I’ll play these to express excitement or disappointment, whatever is going on at the time. And back when I was at @986themix, I had another cart with the jingle in it for Old Time Audio Theater, the show that followed me when I broadcasted on Server 2 on early Friday evenings between 6/18/21 and 7/8/22. I’d play that cart when announcing near the end of my show, what was coming up after me.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@986themix @celrock I just use them in the way I do because I suck at precise timing, so this way I can keep an eye on my watch, and know exactly when to smack that magic button. The day I can get myself a Jaws license and the scripts is going to be an awesome day for everybody.

cordova5029,

@evilcookies98 well they're fun to listen to, and you could always just use them as beds for in the background of your show.

MariahL,

@cordova5029 @evilcookies98 I was going to say, set up beds for your shows

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cordova5029 @MariahL that’s not a bad idea

jamminjerry,

@MariahL @cordova5029 @evilcookies98 I know I would love to have a collection like that. I managed to get a whole bunch of classic press your luck episodes from youtube, but I would love to have music from gameshows.

AbbyLovesToSing,

@jamminjerry @MariahL @cordova5029 @evilcookies98 You can probably get the tracks from youtube videos, or itunes might have the tracks you can purchase. Google the show name and in parenthesis put "music from" or "backing tracks" and it should pop the list up. I've found some great renditions and originals on Spotify too.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @AbbyLovesToSing @MariahL @cordova5029 I found mine on YouTube, or at least most of them

jaybird110127,

@evilcookies98 Are they for US game shows, or more than that?

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jaybird110127 odds are if it airs on buzzr, I have the theme music for it. What’s my line, super password, card, sharks, classic concentration…

jaybird110127,

@evilcookies98 LOL how big is the collection?

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jaybird110127 I would have to go to the computer and look, but it’s big enough for me to wonder what the heck I’m doing with it and if I can actually use it for anything. They don’t exactly make for something good to listen to randomly. Can’t sing along with some thing that doesn’t have lyrics.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Do you broadcast somewhere?

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby I do :)

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby Hmmm! Maybe you could use those gameshow themes for talk beds!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby that’s actually not a bad idea. I haven’t really chosen any yet, because I’m still pretty new. I’ve done precisely three shows, and the most recent one was the first to not have at least one technical glitch.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby Oops? That happens with all of us! I used to broadcast until I couldn't upgrade my SPL due to lack of money once I started using SPL although when I first started broadcasting I used winamp with the sam encoders and the line-in tool!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby if you still have your old version it should still work. I’m going to use the version I have until it completely stops working and then I’m probably going to have to find something else. Not going to get into why

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby Unfortunately all I have is a demo of SPL and that only lasted a month and that was on my desktop computer! I don't have it on my laptop though! I have the latest desktop version of winamp due to the fact that it's now basicly web based!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby I just recently downloaded Winamp for the first time ever because I heard it was really easy to fix bad file tags with. That calliope thing has broadcasting tools, built into it, but they’re in a rather obscure spot.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby Ahuh! Intresting!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby they’re kind of buried in the now playing scream, which is precisely why I don’t use it. There would be so much dead air while I was trying to find the turn mic on button it wouldn’t even be funny.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby True enough and that's why I use winamp 10.29! I don't like the new winamp since there's no usable version to update to for the desktop layout on a laptop!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby I don’t even know what version I’ve got. It’s whatever the website gave me.

cub80_appleby,
evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby when I opened it for the first time, it scared the crap out of me

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Yeah I'm sure it did! Wow!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby that logo or whatever the heck it was in the ears was most definitely unexpected

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 I remember when I first started using winamp and when I heard that llamma I was a bit taken aback too!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby I think that’s the first piece of software I’ve ever had that introduced itself in such an unexpected manner

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Yeah me too! However that was way back when winamp first came out and when I had my first desktop and after I got the internet for the first time back in 2005!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby I am primarily a Mac user, so I mostly use iTunes. I’m Boot Camp of course.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Ah gotcha!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby when I first got station playlist and didn’t have any other way to use it, I would throw a bunch of tracks into the playlist and just hit play

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Ah I see! When I first tried SPL I was having trouble with it since the earliest version only allowed .mp3 files until the latest version!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby L O L can’t use the playlist as my personal media player anymore. I don’t want random meta-data streaming to who knows where.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Oh wow!That's not cool! @carrottop1023 uses it not only for broadcasting with JAWS when we had JAWS 2023 he uses it as a stand-alone media too!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@carrottop1023 @cub80_appleby I have mine set up in such a way that the metadata goes out through the encoder, so I’ve really got to watch what I’m doing. The encoder doesn’t auto connect, thank the heavens above, but I don’t really want to take my chances. I’m using NVDA, but my next two purchases are going to be a Jaws annual license and those beautiful Scripps that are absolutely awesome. I’m using a demonstration copy with jaws in 40 minute mode so I can learn how they work.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @carrottop1023 Good luck with that! Yeah if we had oodles of money @carrottop1023 and I would certainly rehash our full version of JAWS 2023 and I'd buy SPL 6.0.1 or what ever the latest version is!

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 @carrottop1023 I'd certainly go buy those scripts too!

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@carrottop1023 @cub80_appleby I think I understand most of how to use them. Thanks to the beautiful little tutorial sitting over here on my SD card.

cub80_appleby,

@evilcookies98 Ah I see! Well have fun with it!

celrock,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby There's a way to fix it so random metadata doesn't stream out like that. Don't use the http thing to output your titles. Check the use DSP checkbox instead.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby @celrock that’s the way I have it set, but I am still kind of worried about random stuff going out all over the place

celrock,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby If you’re using the DSP means of streaming out titles, nothing will randomly stream. You have to be connected to a server in order for titles to stream out at all. If you’re using SPL as a stand alone player without being connected to a server, nobody will ever know.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@cub80_appleby @celrock oh, so that neat little trick does still work. My method of using it as a media player was to add one track, hit the insert random top up track key about 60 times, and then just mash the play key and see what kind of crazy mess I ended up with. my search folder and top up folder are the same thing

celrock,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby I’ve been known to do that, when I couldn’t think of what to play. I also have it set up, so the folder I search for both, adding tracks manually, and putting in random top up tracks, is also the same. F:\Audio on the desktop, and D:\Celeste on the laptop.

celrock,

@evilcookies98 @cub80_appleby She's on Dodge Radio on Wednesday evenings, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Eastern, that's 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Atlantic, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Central, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Mountain, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Pacific, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Alaskan, and 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Hawaiian. If interested in listening, either tell your smart speaker to enable Dodge Radio and play Dodge Radio, or, enter http://server.dodgeradio.net/stream into your preferred media player of choice. She plays a wide variety of music, and takes requests, so definitely worth a listen!
