I used to have work Teams on my phone (that I personally pay for and maintain). Our IT started cracking down for very good security reasons on work data on personal devices needing to be enrolled in Intune. I tried a couple times to do it and it didn't work. I mentioned to my boss, who replied "you can do it if you want, but you don't get paid overtime so nobody expects you to."

Now I have zero work data on my phone except my calendar, read only shared to my personal account.

@stux that is a prime example of HR defining policies that they don’t understand but you must respect. In the end IT gets f-ed both ways. Losing time to go to the office and losing respect because you don’t handle fires in a timely manner…

@stux Long ago I was hired by a micro-managing schmuck. I work in a database-focused IT role and this was a 24x7 operation. Mgr repeatedly told me that he "didn't have the budget" for me to have VPN access because it cost so much monthly yadda yadda yadda. After a few months I knew the regular IT guys & asked what system they used that required some monthly charge to the department for VPN access. They laughed, I told boss there was no fee & stood watching him sign the form. 😈

One of my former employers offered to install the corporate e-mail and communications tool on staff smartphones, for a small monthly fee (to cover data charges).

I countered that if they want the ability to harass me after hours they should pay me and not the other way around.

@stux Soon, he won’t have to worry about having to work at the office either! Complete freedom! I heard that it’s super easy to find those great wfh job and he should have no problems. He should get his bright idea on a tshirt to wear for the only zoom interview he might get.

Im doing well, Fedipage is on v2 so it came along nicely... and ive been using it on my personal website which I love.
