I'd be traveling alone, wich is not great for a really shy person. But this time I would have experience from my past travel to USA in 2017 to overcome fears and actually interact with people.
I'm looking at about 400€ for travel and lodging, plus extra for food and trinkets, PLUS the cost of the CitizenCon itself, let's say, it's 300€, all in all it would probably go up to 1000€ total.
That's a bit expensive...but doable if I put my mind on it.
Today is off to a great start 🤦♂️ (Before you jump in: I haven't received a single code, it's been appearing for at least the last 12 hours, and no, this account doesn't have any other way of authenticating other than receiving a code/call.)
@twostraws Don’t understand why that can’t do the usual 2FA methods. Even using theirs it always says from the map a request is being made in another country which isn’t disconcerting at all.
Someone asked why I started criticizing Apple’s privacy changes all of a sudden and I realized I’ve been calling out the impacts of Apple ATT for two and a half years.
@carnage4life Doesn’t this exactly prove that what Apple is doing is better as it means they are prioritising the privacy of the user? As a user, I am much happier with this state of affairs.
open something in GIMP, prompted to update
download the GIMP torrent file, prompted to update my torrent client
go to get the torrent client update, notice my browser is out of date
Yesterday I got a new car. All new, very nice. The second photo is today. A very stupid part broke. The trunk door basically can’t close anymore. Really amazing!
@dimillian Yeah, they all suck. Always thought Polestar or BMW as they put Apple or Google Maps in the infotainment system. That’s more as an iOS user. If you have Google’s OS powering your car and you’re Android, you probably don’t need to car to care about the CarPlay integration.
The idea that charging people $5-$15 a month for an app or website is morally superior to targeted online advertising has hit the roadblock that it’s too expensive for the average consumer and quite exclusionary if you aren’t rich.
Paywalls now prevent us from sharing news with each other or even talking about the same TV shows. And it’s only going get worse over time as paywalls creep even into the apps we use to communicate with each other.
@mikemikina@davemark I’ve actually setup “Screen time” to block account changes without a second passcode that’s different to my unlock one. Shouldn’t have to do that though.
@dnc You use the hashtag #VeganRecipes a lot but none of the links ever have the recipes. Is this a problem with the site. Even when it gives attribution to the recipes - the attribution is never a link to the original source.
Star Citizen's Pyro, its long-awaited pirate/outlaw star system, and the first additional system to be added to the game, is currently rolling out (in preview). They have done an incredible job of making this place feel dangerous and run-down. Moments after takeoff my ship's systems were fried, with a blinding flash, by a solar flare, which is a very immersive addition. Doesn't just feel like ‘another star system’, it feels like an expansion pack with whole new mechanics and gameplay systems
@stroughtonsmith Looks stunning. Really hopeful for this year in game. Honestly expect maybe half the stuff we’ve seen but that might be ok, if the big fix as they go.
