    @decryption I’m convinced they are just a front for other things, there was one in my neighborhood.. they showed up on days of crappy weather & not even in summer a lot.

    They used to be common in the 70's/80's, these days they are more a call them up to get them out in your area thing.

    They still might hang around major public areas with lots of foot traffic, festivals/parks/major pedestrian areas as well.

    In summer we would hear that tune often, we all knew what it meant, and then we'd all run to our parents, "Mum can we have some ice-cream?".

    The tune is often Greensleves I think ?

    @decryption how is it that you live in Australian suburbia and haven’t ever seen one before? I thought they were still fairly common. Not as much as they used to be but still….
