I know that way madness lies. But it's the kind of madness that's wrecking things for everybody, so maybe figuring out how it ticks will help us figure out how to deal with it.

Continuous violence would be repeatedly striking someone in the face. This "violence of apartheid" that you invoke is not continuous violence by any acceptable definition of violence.
The relationship between Israelis and Palestinians can be negotiated peacefully as long as Palestinians stop misinterpreting "violence of apartheid" (whatever that is) as actual physical violence that needs physical retaliation.
