I am eating every single thing I have said about android over the years. Nobody likes to eat their words, but I’m willing to admit that I’ve had to do it.

GamingWithEars,

@evilcookies98 Whatever you may have said, it probably wasn't wrong. Android has been playing catch-up in the Accessibility race for years.

evilcookies98,

@GamingWithEars I said I would never touch it with a 10 foot pole

GamingWithEars,

@evilcookies98 Oh...well, yeah, gotta watch such bold statements, ah, that's one of the less cool parts of growing up! LOL

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@GamingWithEars nobody ever likes to be wrong, but being able to admit when you’ve screwed up is a very valuable thing

GamingWithEars,

@evilcookies98 Oh yeah for sure and too many struggel with this for far too much of their lives.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @GamingWithEars and if you can laugh at yourself, and joke about you are doing even better.

ratking,

@evilcookies98 how do you mean?

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@ratking I gave the thing fits over the years for the focus issues and stuff like that and said I would never touch it with a 10 foot pole

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking how is that crow tasting? or maybe you are having a slice of humble pie? smile grin.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking not my favorite, but I’m willing to eat it.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking I think we have all had to eat it at least once in our lives.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking when you’re willing to eat, it is when you know you’ve really learned something.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking and admiting that you need to eat it shows that you have learned something, and that you have grown up a bit too.

ratking,

@evilcookies98 well, in the past it did have those issues, but that was a while ago

jamminjerry,

@ratking @evilcookies98 I haven't had focus issues on android for a while, unless it was a particular app, but you can't hold android to that, that was a develper issue.

ratking,

@jamminjerry @evilcookies98 it's been litterly years fo rme, when i first started with droid i has the first gen nexis 7 tablet so yeah

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@ratking @jamminjerry I remember the next seven a little. Never got to handle one firsthand, but I saw a fair bit of it on YouTube.

jamminjerry,

@ratking @evilcookies98 I started with android with froyo and the device was a sanyo zio. you had to navigate with a very small trackball with that thing. I still have all of my very old podcasts from those days from froyo threw lollypop

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking remember when tapping something would click on it? Oh my God I hated those days. I activated random crap like you wouldn’t believe.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking I must admit though that when we got jelly bean and could do the whole swiping, and double tapping, I was even happier.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking well me coming from jingerbread to icecream sandwich I actually liked it. I was just glad we could use the touch screen. it took me a bit to learn the whole single tap thing, but once I got it, I loved it.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking then again it probably wouldn’t have bothered me so much if I had actually learned like that. I started with iOS so that could’ve been part of the problem.

ratking,

@evilcookies98 @jamminjerry In my case it ws that the 7 was so sluggish, but i know that was a device issue. When i tried it again with the galaxy s5 which i wound up getting it was much better

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking if you didn't go into it with an open mind, then yes, that would have exactly been the problem. the training I do, you don't know how many people want to move from IOS to android, but when they see that some things are different, oh my god do they throw a fit! you don't know how many times I have seen it.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking I got frustrated because I couldn’t navigate without hitting something.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking I actually like using explore by touch once I learn an app. it is actually faster that way.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking I’ve got muscle memory for some stuff.

dhamlinmusic,

@jamminjerry @evilcookies98 @ratking Yep, one of the big ones people I chat with have issues with from more recent versions was the pre-android 11 angle gestures being super finicky about the angle being perfect.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@jamminjerry @ratking @dhamlinmusic I gave up on those at the time. I can manage them now though.

dhamlinmusic,

@evilcookies98 @jamminjerry @ratking The big thing I cannot get the hang of is tabletop BSI, I use screen away with my phone, and just connect my display to my tablet.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar
dhamlinmusic,

@evilcookies98 @jamminjerry @ratking Yeah, since early 2021.

@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@ratking @jamminjerry the last device I used was running KitKat, which I didn’t know at the time. It was a braillenote touch in 2017, which led me to believe things had never gotten any better.

jamminjerry,

@evilcookies98 @ratking I have podcasts from the good old kitkat days, and like I said, I didn't really have any focus issues unless it was a particular app.

evilcookies98,
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

@ratking @jamminjerry I had them all the time. I would try to swipe across the screen and it would go from point A to point Q instead of from point A to point B. It doesn’t do that anymore.
