    ClawedQuinna,

@LeviKornelsen Seems like Call of Chtulhu style thing.
Or maybe it could be some sort of PbtA or FitD stealth dungeon crawl.
Maybe it could feature a combat thing, but said thing would be about ultimately buying a bit of time or smth.
Could have a clock for how long you can stay in the dungeon and such.
Could flavor it as some sort of ancient horror tombs or raiding ruins of cities for supplies in a dead world.
    ...or a Matrix-like setting with antivirus-like monsters

@LeviKornelsen I think The God that Crawls from LotFP can do that.

@LeviKornelsen I’ve tried to make a few games with this rule and none of them turned into something I wanted to publish. I might still use it for a project in the works, though.

You might check out Skorne, which doesn’t have the “one-hit-kill” aspect but does have static damage (no randomness), so you might run into a monster that deals way more damage than you every turn and instantly be able to tell “okay, I can’t beat this in a straight fight.”

@LeviKornelsen The two that come immediately to mind are Trophy Dark and Cthulhu Dark.

    mneme,

@LeviKornelsen What games are there where this is the mechanic regardless of genre other than Cthulhu Dark?

Sadly, while crawling for Cthulhu Dark hacks included some people asking for the same thing I didn't find any results.

@LeviKornelsen as in "this game is about exploration, mystery, traps magic, but a fight with monsters is insta-death"? Intriguing concept.
I think I know no games like this, but I can see Gumshoe used to do something along these lines: Gaean Reach had insta-death by energy weapons, for example.

@LeviKornelsen Trophy Dark. In Trophy Gold, you can fight and win and have another adventure, but Trophy Dark is about your last desperate attempt to make one last big score or, more likely, die trying. If you face the monster directly, you die.

    Lironah,

@LeviKornelsen I would be the first to go. Seriously, this is my LARP playstyle, charging into the fray so my team will actually do something instead of sit there while we get flanked.
