I just checked in on SFWA's Discord and... it's a hot fucking mess of anti-Palestinian racism. I am legit shocked. I no longer wish to be affiliated with this organization, in any form. I'm shaking... I was expecting apathy, but it's a violent. It's not safe for me, for any Palestinian. I'm gone.
This is coming literally on the cusp of me trying to write again. They just didn't think there would be any Palestinians in the room.

@SoniaSulaiman That is horrible. I’m so sorry there were so few speaking out against it. I have been in such situations and it makes your heart sick.
I am hoping someone in the group is reading this & will AT LEAST record it & keep the evidence. The irresponsible anti-Palestinian speech of our leaders will create more and more license for such racism.
@SoniaSulaiman But much more is necessary. Speaking out, writing letters, leaving the organization, leaving the chat, idk. Anything is better than doing nothing.
@SoniaSulaiman I’m so sorry to hear about this. I don’t know if it will do any good, but I reached out to the SFWA board (contact page) to request in vigorous words that they take action to stop the hate speech on their Discord. The views expressed on their Discord directly reflect on them.
@SoniaSulaiman Ah, if it's a large national organization odds are you could find a media outlet interested enough to publish screenshots and cause a well deserved PR mess for them
@SocialistStan given how hard Western governments and press are on board with genocide right now, I'm somewhat skeptical that it will cause even a ripple. @SoniaSulaiman
@SocialistStan If enough members raise a stink about it maybe the organization will clean house. But there will likely be a backlash and all Palestinians are already dealing with enough shit. @SoniaSulaiman
