hsorlie,

A little while ago someone posted about an they had made, that made custom paint-by-numbers/color-by-numbers prints of your own photos. I thought I had reblogged or favourited the post to keep it, but now I can't find it and I can't remember the name of the package. Does anyone know which package it is?

@hsorlie I don't recall 👀 that post (& some Inoreader / Raindrop / Perplexity searches also came up bupkis) but https://rud.is/misc/paint-by-numbers.html has an (unfinished) approach.

@ the end, the lyr.1 column has the color idx.

I left {smoothr} in there as it can help further reduce noise.

You can use base plot w/@mdsumner's {basf} (https://github.com/mdsumner/basf) to plot the numbers. {ggplot2} is slower.

It's "work" tho, to get it super nice.

Perhaps use {magick} to pre-process the input.

hsorlie,

@hrbrmstr Thanks for the tip! The package I was looking for was this: https://github.com/cj-holmes/paintr But that one also looks super nice!

@hsorlie oh neat! glad you found it! that's a cool {magick} / {stars} workflow in that one.
