➖ I think the minimum does knock out the act of donating even a tiny amount as GESTURE - but still 5 seems low... there will be less 'hits' as minimum is increased... 1 being lowest denominator - e.g. 5 x $1 donations rather than $5 to one place
➕ People should be donating more and well I don't approve this way but does set a bar which is measurably almost the lowest so I'd say overall this is ok.
It might make less go around but guess the option is nicer.
I'd be happy to hear if you do small donations anyway and if the conversion (perhaps from your currency) is the main thing... which maybe is the next point
➕ less currency charges for people? (I assume $1 amounts would cost more to convert... or maybe it doesn't work this way)

Thanks for the comment. I actually donate to quite many projects monthly or weekly, and the conversion happens at my end, so the recipient will get all the exchanged money without overhead. I donate based on my usage. I donate to my mastodon instance more than what I donate to @matrix
One thing to consider is that $5 monthly means $60 annually, and when I donate to around 20 projects, that will end up to be $1200 which is about 50% of my income! So imho min $5 is way too high.

Thanks for the response, but as the matter of fact you didn't link to both. I click on both mentions (paragraph 4 and 7) and both have minimum of £5 monthly or £60 annual. Do you want me to forward you the Patreon email I got?
Also, why this platform doesn't support € or $? It alway show me British pounds.

Thanks also for the note about currency. Our other supporter form includes several currencies and we'll correct the membership form so that it also supports multiple currencies.

Well, several things went wrong in one single announcement 🤔. Perhaps you should reconsider your procedures for publishing and announcements as apparently there is not enough checks in place.
It would also be nice to know why you chose Donorbox instead of OpenCollective or even the better one: @Liberapay (which is FLOSS itself and doesn't take commission from you). Transparency is always important imho.
@josh@matrix thanks for the explanations. May I suggest adding all these to the Patreon announcement as well?
Also there are open feature requests for LiberaPay to add certain membership perks feature.
But if your membership criteria is amount of donation, then you can use the CSV file LiberaPay let you export and use that. I can write a quick code for you to extract such info, sort and etc.
