"Legacy" video games. Implement the concept of playthroughs permanently changing the global initial game states. I'm thinking of things like mechanics being locked away until you die and then you get to start a new game with those mechanics unlocked.

Are there any implementations anyone can think of?

@raiderrobert Undertale
Most visual novels (usually the true route is locked after some crazy ass requirement)
Similar with many JRPGs

@raiderrobert Rogue Legacy maybe? 🤔 And pretty much any other Rouge-like, as others have said. But I think there’s even done RPGs that do that, although I can’t think of an example right now. 😅 Story-wise it could be a cool device though!
