I would be happy if just before all crypto mining facilities were permanently shut down, the computers in each were melted and melded into giant coins like the stone 'coins' in Yap, Polynesia. Then when future generations taught children about how dopey we were, the coins would bear silent testimony.
Add in greed which increases stupidity and the outputs are a few crypto millionaires and a lot of fools missing their life savings. It is truly amazing that these scams persist--yet they do.
