I'm at a restaurant, and this lady had the waiter bring out the chef, and explain a good amount of the menu in detail.

This was not for food allergy reasons, the menu has extensive explanations of each item, with allergen warnings, and what is vegan and vegetarian.

Showoff, and bet this isn't the first time. Diamonds to donuts, when given the opportunity she drops a name or Michelin-starred restaurant or position she once held to establish her bona fides with the chef.

@DemocracySpot @RickiTarr people have no idea what can happen to your food in a pissed off kitchen

@RickiTarr I've never once worked as wait staff, and yet I hate these people with a passion.

If I'm eating somewhere more than once, it's likely they're trying their best and getting great results.

I probably like them, too.

So it feels like someone trying to shame my friends in public, for fun.

I know they don't want me to add to the fuss, and they're handling it.

But fuck those "guests".

I hope their best nail clipper goes missing right when their nails split.

@RickiTarr Which takes 15 hours at the Cheesecake Factory.

@tombradleyjr Ohhh this was a relatively small menu I can't imagine

@RickiTarr I have seen that happen slightly, but never as excessive as a chefs visit.

Grilling wait staff just seems so gross to me. I get nervous asking about pescatarian stuff.

@RickiTarr “You see ma’am the menu— that’s the thing in your hand — has a list of the food we have on offer

convention says you pick a thing and then it goes in your mouth

This is really below my pay grade btw”

@RickiTarr

This behavior gives me hives. Is this normal and acceptable? What's the play here?

@RickiTarr @elverkonge Sounds like someone wanting to appear important.

My stepdad was an Italian chef who owned a restaurant. A party came in and ordered, with wine. Head of the party tasted wine and sent it back saying it was off. Enrico tasted it, nothing wrong. Filled back up with tap water and recorked. Went out as a replacement. Man tried it and deemed it good.

On leaving, Enrico stopped them & explained what he had done. Told man never to try to be clever when he obviously wasn't! 😁

@RickiTarr @NormanDunbar @elverkonge so what was the guy's reaction??

@rothko @RickiTarr @elverkonge

Embarrassment. Possibly, humiliation.

Enrico didn't suffer fools gladly!

@elverkonge @RickiTarr my first guess when I see this kind of behavior would be "Look how important I am."
