@StillIRise1963 @artemis It's part of Indigenous culture. In this region, to put it simply, the people on the sea traded with the people in the interior. If anyone was short, they shared rather than see anyone go hungry. It wasn't a moral question to ponder because it was simply practical.

The point is that the normal function of human beings was tidily packaged for people who were automatically something less, and the argument between the haves and have-nots continues because of selfishness. Selfishness is a cultural problem that wasn't solved by fancy talk.

AIPAC is a foreign influence peddling operation. They are focused on preventing women of color from being in power.

If you are a white supremacist, and don't like women of color, you can vote for the candidates financed by AIPAC.

Since Portland has been overrun by white supremacists fairly consistently since Bud Clark was elected, maybe we need to see it as a feature, and not a bug.

Remember the shrines to SS officers around Rocky Butte? Those first started to appear in the 1980s. We now know they were put up by members of the Portland Police.

All of this is a feature. Not a bug.

In fact, one of the first people to discover those shrines was a high school pal who immigrated here from the Channel Isles.

He was infuriated to see them in a park, and it was made even more foolish since we were there to watch Fourth of July fireworks after sunset.

Imagine your parents surviving WWII, and then finding shrines to Nazis in your new home.

Imagine reporting those shrines in 1988, and being ignored because you're a high school kid.

A few months later, skinheads murdered Seraw.

International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) says its definition encompasses the “targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity”.

It took 66 years, 7 months, and a day after Emmett Till was lynched for Congress to pass legislation, and for President Biden to sign the Emmett Till Antilynching Act.

Remember that lack of haste when Black Americans were the object of hate, and how few lynchings over the last several years have been thoroughly investigated.

Please think about Emmett Till while our Congress rushes to pass legislation meant to stifle dissent and show support for a genocidal European colony on the Mediterranean.

The difference between today and 1968 is that Israel killed 34 Americans in June of 1967, and nobody talked about it.

One wonders what might have happened if Americans were motivated to protest the attack on the USS Liberty.

Some important lines would have already been drawn, and nobody would be playing semantic games about Israeli intentions.

Students would already know that American lives are meaningless without killing Rachel Corrie to prove it again.
