HOLY SHIT, I watched Unfrosted, the Jerry Seinfeld-directed, -produced, -written-by and -starring story of Pop Tarts, and I can see why Seinfeld was promoting it by bemoaning the chilling effect of "woke" on comedy - this is some of the most incendiary shit I have ever seen, so many f- and c-words and an absolutely blistering, take-no-prisoners evisceration of conventional wisdom and the status quo.

Having a surprise bad MH day today - no idea why - and coping with it by hiding, pretending, and cooking. So far I've made two cakes, a batch of sausage rolls, several jars of onion jam and am about to make a midweek dinner of 60 'meat'balls, a vat of mash, buttered veg and fried greens. For only 4 people. I've also cleaned everything in a sort of manic fugue state and am now going to make some bread. If I could put half this energy into what I'm supposed to be doing, everything would probably be OK. It's not a very nice sensation feeling like I'm wired up backwards.

Sorry - I know this is a bit moany and self-indulgent. I really try not to do that here (or generally out loud), but it's got the better of me a bit today and I feel like if I post about it it might somehow get the poison out of me.

Quick! Think of a joke.... Er..... Two goldfish in a tank. One says to the other.... enemy 40 degrees, load the breech, fire!

@TheBreadmonkey the world is in a flux of epic proportions and we are being tasked with staring into ACTUAL insanity while pretending we exist in both the past (2013 age of growth) AND modern day (2024 age of chaos).

This is a rough era to exist in and we are being asked to navigate the world around us...while smiling. That isn't fair, safe, tenable, or appropriate. We are allowed things. We are allowed moments of panic and terror. We are allowed to sit and make four dinners instead of just one.

I'm glad you are able to explore the world around you and prepare meals. I hope it helped being productive and useful.

Thank you for the instructions. I might try this or burn the house down in an attempt. I have crumbles in the freezer so really it might just be simple.

I just read the preamble to a document on finding income as a writer and one of the top resource suggestions was, become a high paid freelance writer.

I hope this was written by a chatbot. But I fear it was a filler paragraph by a real person.

Unrelated - I have decided that I am now a high paid freelance writer and will be accepting 5 and 6-digit proposals (left side of zero please) for my efforts directly at this time.

I am unsure if that is "high paid" but I am a quick typist ( :blobcateyesblush: ) and imagine with inflow from this new found wealth stream it should be 'good enough' if not quite fully qualified.

Even if it's just hand scrawled on a napkin, sometimes it helps me find good in the day. Try and focus on the pleasant things. If there aren't a lot of pleasant things today, perhaps journal a great day or the day you would have liked?

I was involved with a Not-for-profit for a while. Very meaningful work at the end of the day, I found. Seeing the great differences in lifestyles, growth, expectations, etc. is pretty eye-opening.

For myself, I've been trying to come up with things that can exist past me. Books, podcasts, some kind of application or tool that I can contribute to the earth that isn't just plugging into someone elses money pipeline and helping them enrich their organization.
