A postcard in the mail today. He's alive! I've wondered since 1999 when he went quiet, then a mutual friend wrote to say he'd been "detained" (not in Türkiye). The friend and I exchange cards every Christmas, but there's been no word. Disappeared.

25 years.

My husband and I just adopted this sweet girl from Michigan Humane. She is a very large lap dog and cuddlebug, and a crazy ball of energy. Unfortunately, she has heartworm and will need some powerful treatment that requires that her heart rate stay low for about 3 months. No walks longer than 5 minutes. No chasing squirrels in the backyard. Good luck to us!! (photo attached)

My pup Jack had heartworms when I adopted him. No one would take him because of the cost, and he'd been there a couple months. An hour before I got to the SPCA, someone volunteered to pay for his treatments. I couldn't have. We walked on leash in the yard for months, and when he finally tested negative and I unleashed him, there was much joy for both of us.

It is a pretty calm evening. A chilly breeze lingering at the end of a windy day.
Summer's pal wanted to be the one to feed the ducks and close the door on their pen.
I am keeping Summer in the house because I worry that she will rile up the ducks and things could get complicated.
So she patiently watches him go from one end of the yard to the other through the openings on the deck. As soon as he passed by, she moved her vigil to the back door. I could hear her sigh of relief when he came back into the house.
She is a funny, totally faithful dog.

Tiny white wonders of the woods!

A vertical, low-key image in black and white with a lot of the flower Oxalis acetosella, or wood sorrel. The flowers are spread out in the image but only two of them are in focus, one a bit to the left of the one in the centre of the image. The flowers are white and the rest o f the image is pitch black.
A vertical, low-key black and white image of an anemone nemorosa, or wooden anemone from the side, hanging down like a bell. Underneath the anemone are tree Oxalis acetosella, or wooden sorrels, out of focus. Two of them turned to the left and one of them a bit to the right.
