@Hey_Beth She'll also be the last person left in the race when (not if, when -- and you heard it here first) Trump drops out. It's why she's still in it now, the elites think she's the most electable "Not-Trump" even though everyone but them hates her. Democrats need to be preparing as if the race is going to be Biden v Haley, because I think that's where this will end up.
It will Biden and Haley, and then her attacks on Biden will have.an impact on the independents and Never Trumpers Biden needs.
This narrative about Democrats crossing over to support her in the primary as a vote for democracy is so damn dangerous.
It legitimizes what she is saying about Biden. Everyone points to her candidacy as a threat to Trump, but she is on the campaign trail saying Biden is worse.

Said that, way GOP core sucks up to radicals is no pasarana.
I think it is unlikely he drops out, but it is something that I think needs to be considered in the long-term.
Especially with the push by Never Trumpers and Democrats to have Dems cross-over in the GOP primaries to support her in what they call an effort to save democracy.
Dems need to call her out. She is not Never Trump. Her politics are not moderate.

He’s nearly bankrupt, and with mounting judgments and an equally-broke RNC and NRA, even if he wants to stay in he may be unable to drive his message any farther. That’s why the genteel-fascism elites are pushing Haley so hard — they see the writing on the wall.
Genteel-fascism is a perfect way to describe the faction of Never Trumpers supporting Haley.
My issue is the push to have Democrats come over in the primaries to support "democracy." She is not limiting her attacks to Trump. She is defining her attacks on Trump within a larger framework that Trumpism is OK when compared to Biden.

I crossed over to the GOP primary in 2016 to try thwarting Trump; this year I’ll stay with the Democrats — voting for Allred (our TX-32 rep, great guy) to take on Cruz and try to flip a Senate seat.
Oh, I'm watching TX! I was on the FEC website yesterday, and I misread Ted Cruz's fundraising numbers. I had settings from 2019-2024, and that showed him to be the third largest fundraiser. When I corrected the timeframe, Allred is ahead.
Add in the RNC and Cruz tying himself to Trump, and there may be hope in the Lone State.

I wish the Democratic party could find a way to highlight what is really a very deep bench. If we can get through 2024, Democrats have some amazing people ready to step in.
Biden is the right person to lead the ticket, but the campaign should include the Democrats standing behind him. They really are an exceptional group.

If the genteel fascists could control the magats, he wouldn't have been the candidate in 2016. If they try and push trump out, he'll run as a 3rd party candidate. They won't vote for haley. trump won't drop out, being a candidate is the only thing that could keep him out of jail.
Yes, and this is exactly why the genteel fascists are promoting Haley as some kind of moderate. They need Democrats to support her.
It is crazy when you look at numbers. Haley won't be able to pull it off. But in the meantime, the efforts of both the GOP and some so-called Democrats to present her as a viable alternative to Trump and as a safety net for saving democracy is legitimizing her attacks on Biden.

I also believe that while ribbing Biden about age is nonsense (and it underlines some of problems USA has in politics as well), people will get tired of it and in the end it will highlight trump issues as well.
And the rhetoric from MAGA is sounding more and more extreme.
Conversations about age may be appropriate if MAGA wasn't going all in. They seem to know that they have one chance left to con people into voting for their dangerous agenda.
There is a movement to get Dems to vote for her in the primaries to "save democracy." A great number of Dems did that in NH, and the next day, rather than acknowledging that her numbers were bolstered by Dems looking to stop Trump, she doubled down on her support of Trump and went after Kamala Harris.
She seems to have backed off of that. Someone told her that she needs put that dog whistle away for now.
@Hey_Beth We're independents who live in southern NH, and we voted for her in the Republican primary. (I was wearing one of my "abortion" T-shirts, the one that says basically, "not your uterus, not your business", so everyone knew what I was doing.)
And yeah, after we all drove her numbers up, she doubled down. She's not really running a smart campaign.
At this point, a smart campaign would require her to lie to the American people. I'd rather she speak her truth: She is voting for Trump because she thinks Biden is worse.
She hadn't said that before NH, but she's saying it now to set up the inevitable flip.
