Did a brompton test ride today, they do ride super nice. But do wonder how it will function in mountain areas or longer distances with backpack. can't really test that before getting one. 🤷♀️
With a regular bike, I consider going electric, but that's a massive price difference and adds 6kg. #brompton
@wmd long distance and backpack on a bike is never an ideal option. You want that weight on the bike. Not adding pressure to your arse. I've done multi day tours on a Brompton, including the highest point of Belgium. The great thing with the Brompton is you can always just fold it and take a bus. Have done a few thousand km on my Brompton. Happy to answer questions.
@quixoticgeek@wmd Not tried it myself, but I've seen people do big backpack on a Brompton by hanging it from a bit of dowel or something attached to the back of the saddle, with the rear rack supporting most of the weight.
@wmd that's the pathless pedalled approach. Personally I have a Brompton T bag on the front and a carradice SQR rack on the seat post, and I then bungee a dry bag to that. I'll see if I can find a picture.
