I'm looking for a contract frontend dev to help reduce our backlog of small & medium UI issues and maintenance tasks at @redqueen.

We're a tiny team, so the context switching for this sort of bread and butter work is brutal on the two folks who are responsible for designing and building out more substantial architectural stuff & infrastructure. I think that having someone else on hand to help pick up that slack could be really useful for us.

The core skills we're looking for are HTML, CSS, and Django. Our application is focused on server-side rendering; we are not building an single-page app. We're looking for someone who's solid on the basics: semantic web, and accessibility.

In a perfect world this person would have the ability to learn Rust (or maybe already knows some). Our HTML rendering is not in Rust, but it will probably move there within the next year. We will be using more JavaScript (written as TypeScript) over time, but this is not a skill we need right now, so that's a nice bonus (or learning opportunity) too.

Right now, we're a small five-person team, most of whom work Pacific hours. But we're optimistic that this sort of work is pretty self-contained, and should be possible asynchronously, so we're open to any time zone. Unfortunately, we are only able to contract with people authorized to work in the US, though you can be located anywhere.

If you're interested, feel free to send me a D̶M̶ mentioned-people-only message 🤦🏻. Or send me an email at with "Gyre and Gimble" in the subject line.
