How often do you empty your dryer’s lint trap?

@gedeonm The scarier question is: how often do you clean the hose / vent pipe from the dryer to the exhaust port? That’s where the fires tend to happen 🙀

(The general answer is most likely: “not often enough.” I don’t know what the “right” answer is, but I bet it’s more often than “once every 3-4 years” 😬. Thanks for the reminder!).

@gedeonm when the machine refuses the empty as it blocked. I guess it should be monthly.

@gedeonm I check it after every load, but will empty it less frequently depending on how much lint is produced. Needs a certain payload to come off easily.

@gedeonm

Some lint traps are well hidden. Ours growing up was right there at the opening of the dryer, you saw it, and tended to wipe it out on opening the door.

Currently I use laundromat dryers whose lint traps are under lock and key for owners to maintain.

You can test if the trap needs cleaning by wearing a freshly dried shirt and placing your phone in your shirt pocket.

Lynk,

@gedeonm I feel like my vote needs more explanation ... I would empty it after every load but it is really hard to get the lint off my trap after each load so I do it at the end of laundry day after I have done at least 3-4 loads for the house. 😜
