I just had the weirdest interaction I think I've ever had on Mastodon.
If you start an interesting thread, and don't want people to comment on it, perhaps it should have been a blog post with locked comments to begin with?
@Kowfm I did my best to not mention them by name, but if enough have a similar experience, they will know who it is I guess.
I really wanted to follow them because I like their work.
Also, it's only natural for me to want to talk with people on social media if a subject comes up that I'm interested in. I found the reaction especially odd as it was on their own thread. I didn't start the thread and add them into it 😅
Maybe their outlet for such things should be a blog with comments turned off?
@andycarolan if it’s lmnt, I had the same issue once. Tried to have a conversation and he blocked me. The guy may end up blocking the entire internet one day, seeing as no one thinks exactly the same.
@andycarolan don’t feel bad. Louie has very particular ideas about how social media should work that are just not compatible with how social media actually works.
@andycarolan the difference is that I can see when people respond (not sure if that’s an intended feature or an Ivory quirk), so if an interesting conversation does happen against all odds, I’ll get to see it. Probably not worth it though since they mostly end in tears!
@andycarolan I’m 80% sure I know who this was. I used to follow them because I liked their design work, but awhile ago they went on this long rant about how it’s hardly ever okay to reply to people and they aren’t on social media to hear from others. It was bizarre so I unfollowed.
@rameez Well, it won't happen again. I've blocked them purely because I don't want to interact with people who don't want to be interacted with lol. I mean, what is the point of someone being on social media if they don't want interaction 🤔
