iOS app I didn’t think I’d need until I saw it: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nametag-lost-phone-widget/id6476511977

It shows a note on the lockscreen on how to get in touch if your phone has been found.

An American friend of mine thinks beans on toast is disgusting. So to all none Brits (as we find it delicious)…is it disgusting to you?

Side note - I find it astonishing that someone from the country that invented “cheese in a can” can find this “dish” disgusting. 😂

rameez,
@rameez@social.lol avatar

@kev As an Indian living in the UK, I find it bland and boring. It’s probably the oils and spices in my native cuisine changing the baseline of my tastebuds. I can have beans and toast once in 6 months. Any more and I’d be grumpy.

So, I've finally moved from Three UK to EE. The service from Three used to be amazing, but for whatever reason, in the past 1-2 years, it's been bad... At least in my area.

rameez,
@rameez@social.lol avatar

@andycarolan The worst part of being on an EE contract is the annual price increase. If you don’t need an eSIM, 1pmobile provides the same service (bands, speeds) with PAYG.

So, is the Rabbit R1 basically an app that has achieved physical form? 🤔

rameez,
@rameez@social.lol avatar

@andycarolan It’s worse. Their setup uses a VNC session on a remote machine to key in credentials to connect to third-party services like Uber. You are typing your passwords on somebody else’s computer.

@alexandra Good luck 👍🏼

Looking forward to reading them (I mean it. I read all the blog links I come across on my feed, and I enjoy almost all of them)

@maique Uff, that’s tough. Hope you find an even better place.

The important bits are the people and the memories you’ve made. You’re keeping that.

    I just had the weirdest interaction I think I've ever had on Mastodon.

    If you start an interesting thread, and don't want people to comment on it, perhaps it should have been a blog post with locked comments to begin with?

    @andycarolan I have experienced this and it ruined my mood for the rest of the day.

    I had a major brain fart in my DPAN article from this week and thanks to a kind reader note, it’s fixed.

    Shame on me for writing too quickly…basically DPANs are the same between merchants, not different. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Everything else should be good 🙂

    rameez,
    @rameez@social.lol avatar

    @matt clears throat From one payments expert to another, I assume you had a mix up with Credential-on-File tokens and Device Binding.

    rameez,
    @rameez@social.lol avatar

    @matt That’s usually where you have merchant-specific tokens/DPANs.

    rameez,
    @rameez@social.lol avatar

    @matt I sense a very defensive tone, Matt. I wasn’t trying to criticise or correct your post.

    Your post perfectly serves the purpose of educating the layperson how Apple’s service is only one part of a wider solution that delivers card tokenisation and payments.

    All I was wondering was whether you were thinking of a different type of tokens when you wrote the original version of the post (stating merchant-specific tokens). That’s all.

    I just discovered the tyre pressures on my car were all 40psi...

    ... they are supposed to be 33psi 🤦‍♂️

    Anyway, now all sorted and the ride quality is much softer 😅

    rameez,
    @rameez@social.lol avatar

    @andycarolan Mine has 33 if there are 2 people travelling and 36 if there are 4 or 5 or a lot of luggage.

    Garage always sets it to 36. I usually set it to 34.

    I’m experimenting with a new email setup (for the imminently-launching Neatnik ID setup) and could really use some help testing email deliverability. If you have a spare moment and would like to test, just send an email to testing@email.engineering with any subject line and any message body.

    I’m mostly concerned with ensuring that you receive a reply within 15 seconds, and that the reply winds up in your inbox (not spam/junk).

    Thanks in advance if you’re able to help test! :prami_happy:
