Yesterday I was looking for external SSDs and I found one of 8TB for 79 euros but I'm a little sceptical :bloblaugh:

It's from a reasonable vendor but there are no others that come even close

Mostly they offer 1TB for around 112 euro's :amaze:

So perhaps they made a mistake or it's just an empty box :blobcatgiggle:

@stux You can get a 2TB HDD (not SSD) for 74 euros.

    I want to mount multiple external storages to my laptop-server for extra space :blobcatgiggle:

    I do have some older internal disks but no adapters and they are quite old unfort

    Also most are HDDs and 1 SSD but only 100GB or so

    @stux Assuming you are using the drive mostly for Mastodon this type of drive might be more than adequate and more reliable / cost effective than an SSD device (long-term).

    @stux Oh yeah that's 1000% a scam. you'll get a hacked controller with a 128GB SD card or something. If you write more data to it, it'll basically go to the equivalent of /dev/null, or you'll get IO errors.

    Currently I use a 300GB disk for my laptop-home-server for storage but it's thats full within a day :blobblush:

    Also the disk is over 15 years old so gotta be careful with it
