I got my last 6 months ago, just did the final follow-up. They should get some good data from that (blood draw) and publish in the next month or two.

Previously when I’ve shared this a number of people DM me to say they didn’t know it existed. This really surprised me, so I share it every so often.

If you might need it, tuck it away. If you know others who might, make sure they know.

We can feel vulnerable talking with friends and family. The 988 folks are compassionate, and enable anonymity and care when it’s needed most.

It was a good read and I am happy for you.

A couple of observations I made coming to the US from Canada 20+ years ago.

Very generally and all intertwined:

  1. Canada is about 10 years behind the US in many issues/problems. Probably less now due to social media.

  2. Things are not as extreme in Canada, especially bad things.

  3. A major difference between Canada and the USA is in Canada the "common good" outweighs an individual's right, quite the opposite in the USA.

  1. Canada is often more efficient, where as in the USA, inefficiency is built in so more of the select few can profit from it.

And finally politically:
When you consider the roots, growth and evolution of the two countries, a lot can be explained by the their starts:

Canada broke away from Britain slowly and peacefully, having an inherent trust in their government.

The USA broke away violently and have an inherent distrust in their government.

I went through a very similar experience (almost identical) coming from Canada to the US in 2000. Got my greencard in 2003.

One delay was my University transcripts were in French (CMR) and getting them translated added a few months to the process.

Back then it was harder but the process of importing your car was tedious. Not so much anymore since almost all US cars have daytime running lights and an speedometer that can switch to metric.

Exotic pets are another problem area.

Please take this down. It reflects badly on us and takes away from legitimate complaints and concerns.

What if, while at the student protest, there is a school or mall shooting across town? You want them to go back to the station, load up with more ammo or exchange rubber bullets for real ones? And then criticize them for an untimely response?

Yesterday I was looking for external SSDs and I found one of 8TB for 79 euros but I'm a little sceptical :bloblaugh:

It's from a reasonable vendor but there are no others that come even close

Mostly they offer 1TB for around 112 euro's :amaze:

So perhaps they made a mistake or it's just an empty box :blobcatgiggle:

The only things I can see are minor, maybe trim some of the fat on the one slice and it looks like the bottoms of the asparagus could have been trimmed a cm or so more before cooking.

$100 is pretty cheap these days for a good (mechanical) keyboard. I have the G915 with GL Clicky keys (about $160 USD) and G604 mouse on all my systems. Love them.
