Joke justices on a joke court.

I'm pretty disgusted. I'm more disgusted by this than Dobbs. Dobbs hurt more people, but ... at least there was a theory behind that. A general pretense of the court operating within its remit.

Not with this new BS. This is just picking and choosing to see just how much power they can exercise before someone shows up and packs in about 18 more justices. Every member of government can abuse power under the umbrella of being "technically legal"

No one wins in an abuse of power contest.

@futurebird So ... this is the exact argument, in reverse, that I've been having with people about entities like the Federal Labour Board, FCC, FDA, etc.

Starting with the labour board they were jammed through as "technically legal" after FDR personally pressured the supreme court to accept the commerce code excuse.

From the perspective of a non-American it looks like this is just how it goes. One "side" bends the rules egregiously, while complaining about the other "side" doing it. Rinse and repeat.

But that's always how power works. You can have a rule for everything, at some point you need to trust each other to some degree.

It ought to be evident to the court that if they keep going others will start playing the same games.

They should care that most people no longer have respect for them.
