Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Monday. It's sunny and dry! Until lunchtime anyway, so get your washing out and dried before then!

Have a great day everyone, don't forget to enjoy a bad pun and some dad jokes, you'll thank me later for the groans! 😉

Today's random photo is Wild Garlic. This grows in abundance around here and my garden is full of it just now. The flowers smell of garlic too, and you can eat all of the plant. Yum.

@NormanDunbar Just as an after thought, the leaves are very much like a garlic spinach and wilt in the same way. The flowers are very strong but good to eat. The bulbs, from wild plants, are protected, please don't dig them up.

@RosePuckey Our garden is a veritable garlic plantation. The garden is huge, I call it Belgium. About 75% is garlic!

I never dig up wild things though.

@NormanDunbar In your own garden, I think it's a different matter and digging up to re wild would surely be a good thing. Love calling it Belgium. There's a wonderful smell in Bruges that is everywhere in the morning, I can only guess that it's some sort of stock or soup being made for later that day. If anyone from there reads this and knows what it is, please tell me I would love to know.

@RosePuckey It's frowned upon to take plants from your garden, or pond, or even seeds, to rewild somewhere. The risk of pests and diseases that may not be in that part of the wild, but are in your garden, apparently.

Having said that, I'm in favour of re-wilding.

@NormanDunbar Sorry, I assume, quite incorrectly, that everyone's garden is next to a country lane. I really should stop assuming.

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@RosePuckey I've previously been in all sorts of trouble when I assumed something. Serious tellings off ensued!

When I assume now, I usually add "which is always a bad idea". To CMA!

@NormanDunbar The thing is, there's always more than one way of interpreting anything written. It's why solicitors rarely punctuate. Maybe I should take that approach and when anyone says anything I just reply with well that's purely your interpretation of what I said and not what was meant. Damn that was hard not to punctuate.

@RosePuckey Victor Borge, phonetic punctuation always made me laugh.

Enjoy!

@NormanDunbar Brilliant. Why does it sound so much like talking with super squirrel?

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@RosePuckey Maybe Super Squirrel is actually an old, Danish musician/comedian?

Oh, no, that can't be Victor died some years ago. 😟

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@NormanDunbar Ahhhhh, but super squirrel is some sort of weird alien shapeshifter in the form of a squirrel who could be a regeneration of Victor.

@NormanDunbar First time I've seen or heard that. Makes me think of a Billy Connolly sketch about farts and how different it would be if they said farrrrrrrrt in your own voice, or something like that.

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@RosePuckey I think most of Billy's stuff involves farting at some point! 😁

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@NormanDunbar That's true enough, well, what's not funny about farts with voices? Or colours?

@NormanDunbar
Good afternoon to you too MrD. Sorry this is a bit late in the day.

Weather has been okay down here, just a bit 'Meh' really.

I love the smell of wild garlic, it reminds of my childhood when I would stay on an Uncle & Aunts farm, their woods were full of it. It's now my cousin's farm as they both sadly died of COVID. I've not been up there for years.

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@Steampunk_Prof Afternoon Professor. Yes, the woods really do smell of garlic, as does my garden. Most of the flowers are still at the bud stage, but we have a few early risers!

Love the photo!
